A friend of ours was recently talking about his young son falling in love with skateboarding, and happened to mention that all his kid does is binge Ratz and Panorama videos. To take it further, this friend works in the fashion industry, thus finding himself in Milan semi-often, and his kid is constantly begging to come along: “just leave me at Centrale.” (His son is probably not old enough to be left alone at an Italian train station all day.)
So whatever concerns you may have about the future — AI-induced job collapse, climate apocalypse, a dearth in kids identifying as skateboarders, MF’ers posting bangers straight to the timeline — there are still children out there begging their parents to leave them at not-exactly-safe, innocuous city plazas because of the skate videos they watch, just like there were legions of ten-year-olds trying to convince their mom to drop them off in Center City Philadelphia a quarter-century ago because of an orange video tape.
The exponential jumps in quality between all installments of the Panorama series needs to be studied. Sure, most young crew videos are consistently on an upward trajectory, both in terms of skating and production value, but everyone reappearing from the last installment got 50x more brolic in the ~two-ish years since.
Davide, Starskyy and Massimo —— sheeeeeesh.
