The Quartersnacks webstore is now live with spring goods Includes a lot of much-requested reissues of classic items (Diner & Lenox tees, Track Club crews, etc.) Also available at local skateshops worldwide. “Salvaging the ruins, slabs of granite were shipped across the ocean, turning rubble into something both relic and resurrected. These materials were then integrated into a new spot, giving rise to a form of skateboarding ‘spolia,’ [which] refers to materials that are salvaged from one structure and reintegrated into another whether for ideological reasons, practical purposes or both.” Skate Bylines has a #longform piece on the increasingly common phenomenon of classic skate spots being resurrected.
Our friends at Duplex down in Florida have a new edit up on the Thrasher site, and they continue to find more and more spots in their backyard. Jace’s opening clip is insane.
Adding Bobby DeKezyer’s “BOBCBC” part, filmed entirely at the CBC building in downtown Toronto (croski!), to the Quartersnacks One-Spot Part Map Shout out to Tomas and Bobby for actually making skateboarding look incredibly difficult, even for someone who is …incredibly good at it. We need that dose of reality from time to time ;)
There is absolutely no chance you haven’t seen and dissected Supreme’s Headbanger video in your group chat yet, is there?
“I’ve been asked if I’m from Georgia, one time someone called me Charlotte.” Jenkem has a great, insightful interview with QS-favorite, Georgia Martin.
The Bunt is back and their first episode is with #ultimate #industry #insider, Mike Sinclair.
Skate spots in China are a simulation. Wow. Don’t show any of your friends trying to “make it” in skateboarding that kid’s last part unless you hate them, though. Sheesh.
“I’ve photographed world news stories, presidents, and professional sports, yet the photos that people are always interested in talking about most are the photos I shot at Love in the 90s.” Skate Jawn has an incredible feature with Chris Lachall about a bunch of photos he shot hanging out at Love Park in 1994.
A twelve-minute tribute to Gabriel Rodriguez via Crailtap.
Belatedly learned that they’re tearing down the pre-fab version of the Hoboken Skatepark from Leo Heinert’s IG story. Here is the rendering of the concrete park they’re putting in its place. No mini ramp :( Can’t imagine that we have a big Hoboken readership, but people liked that ramp enough to travel across boroughs and into New Jersey to skate it. Def better than any of the ones in the city.
QS Sports Desk Play of the Week — Harrison Barnes to steal it for the Spurs. Nice way to seal the season for a non-playoff-bound team.
Quote of the Week
I haven’t even got to first smoke break and I ran through all the Monday links ffs now I have to actually work
We need a steve rodriguez type out here advocating for the mini ramp
I mean it’s a pre-fab ramp. Can probably call Hoboken Public Works Department or whatever it may be called and be like “Yo, where’s the ramp going?”
