End of the Year Fall Off List

Been slow around here, as recent injuries have taken their toll on office morale, but December is always busy. QS holiday 2017 tees are now available at Supreme Soho and Brooklyn. Arriving at other shops this week and next. Online soonish?

Probably one of the most fried concepts for a recent skate video, but in the best way possible — Kyota Umeki filmed an entire skate video on a Nintendo 3DS with a fisheye taped to it. 90% of it is filmed within like, five blocks of the L.E.S. Park. I also have “Groove Is In The Heart” stuck in my head now, great.

The crew behind Newark’s Shorty’s spot (R.I.P.) was allotted a piece of land by the city, in which they have begun to build a bowl. They’re looking to raise money for supplies, concrete trucks, etc. to speed up the project. If you’ve been to Shorty’s even once, please donate whatever you can so they can continue forward with the Shorty’s spirit ♥

People are insane. They don’t wanna see you shining on a nollie crook in Tribeca.

Bobby Worrest has a comprehesive interview with “The Nine Club,” with a detailed discussion re: the lost art of skate spot politics and east coast aversion to wax. (His favorite Bobby Worrest part is also “Looks Ok To Me.”)

“The single biggest casualty of single parts is there’s no extra bullshit.” Abada has an interview with The Secret Tape, the guy who owns every hardcopy skate video besides the premiere copy of Photosynthesis.

Genny, Nik Stain, Andrew Wilson, Nolan, etc. with an iPhone clip from Portland.

Pat Buckley has been posting a bunch of Dobbin Block-era photos of Caddo, Frankhouse, Mraz et al. over on Tumblr.

A minute-and-a-half of 2017 Brian Wenning footage, who is apparently back on DC.

Harry Bergenfield has a six-minute, half-New York throwaway clip up now. A lot of clips have been starting off with fights lately, huh? Angst still running strong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Kept forgetting to link this one: Miami’s Andrew skate shop crew on the west coast.

^Someone tell 2005 Erik Ellington that this thick shorty is looking for him, insofar as the pork pie hat guy doesn’t get to her first.

Well, this video is going to be pretty fucked

It gets better every time you watch it. Shout out Australia.

QS Sports Desk: Imagine if the Knicks did a subtler trust the process-esque strategy instead of doubling-down on iso-Melo and then trying to force the triangle onto the modern NBA for the past decade? Eh.

Happy birthday Future. No clue how we’d get through life on this planet without you ♥

The QS webstore is restocked with new colors of the swim shorts, a couple new tees, and bags for summer Rockaway trips :) Thank you for the support ♥

Chris Jones’ Spirit Quest section is now playing over at Free. Really sick Soho noseslide opener, and generally some of the most creative (not in an annoying way obvs) + good-looking New York footage in recent memory. Perfect part.

Mehring put together a rad article about those couple of weeks that the Banks were open for The Skateboard Mag. See everyone there again in 2023 ;)

Every time Dustin Henry footage comes out, I remember that he’s my favorite skater that I’d be O.K. with my non-existent daughter dating. Jake Kuzyk uploaded “Savers,” his first clip since The Antisocial Video dropped last year, which features a bunch of those guys + Alltimers, Dime, etc. affiliates.

Would rather watch T.J. skate flat at T.F. than ________. That half cab flip was bomb.

Looks just like most skaters’ apartments in Chinatown, tbh.

Erik Ellington tries on some snakeskin Palace Chelsea boots with Jenkem.

There are some chill Rowan Zorilla clips in Genesis’ summer iPhone montage.

The Bunt talks to Eli Reed about how the hell he figured out to be good at skating that manual pad at the Boston Aquarium and what was up with the “Taking Care of Business” #musicsupervision in State of Mind. Is switch tre into the Courthouse still an N.B.D? P.S. Eli, that switch 5050 hubba in the Bronx is gone man.

Somehow missed this a week ago, but “Putnam Avenue” is a formidable entry into this year’s “Summer Trip to New York”-clip cycle, featuring a couple Euros.

Merchants of Ill in Montreal via Max Hull. See everyone tomorrow :) ♥

Boil the Ocean points you in the direction of Danny Garcia’s “All City roots” for the site’s annual summer video mixtape series.

Inquisitive Gentleman: “Who was the best skater at your wedding?”
Nick Boserio: “Me.”

Love it when a Migos song about buying expensive stuff for girls gets turned into an anthem about starting businesses and shit.

Sorry 4 da wait today, love you :)

DANY video filming deadline: 03/31/16 11:59 P.M. EST. 2016’s most anticipated video.

We have a light drop of new merch available in the webstore. There’s an online-only reissue of the “Ball is Life” hoodys originally made for Dover Street Market, plus two new caps for the spring. The full spring/summer merch line should be available in shops later in April, then on our webstore a bit later. Stay tuned ♥♥♥

Dude is this a 12th & A obstacle or an installation misplaced from a Chelsea gallery?

“Heaven’s Gate” is a new video from Tony Choy-Sutton that deserves an outstanding achievement in spot selection award, in that it remarkably avoids almost every single 2016 trap and blown out New York spot for fourteen minutes. Also, nosegrind down that round rail Quim drop-in 5050s on (with Muska’s help!) in Static 5 is insane.

Iron Claw + Watermelonism in Medellin, my fifth favorite city. Via The Man Who Films.

Pfft, like this isn’t an ABD a thousand times over

“This skating is so sick but this song is so fucking terrible.” Roctakon began to review classic skate video soundtracks for Jenkem. The first installment is a review of Sight Unseen‘s #musicsupervision. “Tosh is kinda hot, for a blonde.”

“Get out of here you stupid bitches!” New six-minute montage from Jesse Alba and Tucker V.W., in which Andrew Wilson 5050s between the knobs down the Dag Park hubba and Jason Byoun does a chill switch flip. It’s a VX.

Ellington cut his hair and advises against skating with a bandana. Also, who’s hosting a premiere of the new Baker video at their house? Let’s get a group text going…

New jazzy clip from Washington Heights’ Mira Conyo squad.

Early “Noseslide of the Year” contender #goldgoon$.

Wallride over the rollgate parallel to the Fish Gap is pretty cool.

The Astor renovation looks uniformly awful but there are these low round rails all around, which have small little knobs on them that prevent grinds but not really slides. Also, how is the cement ground already bad there?

Life of Boosie > Life of Pablo ♥ “I’m not a lyricist, I’m a storyteller.”

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: The tournament is impossible to follow, especially in March when it’s getting warmer outside, but you gotta love a good buzzer beater.

Quote of the Week: “Skateboarders are the only group of adults that hang out together. I’ll hit up all my friends who don’t skate on a 70-degree day and they’re either at work or with their girlfriends.” — Dylgr

Does anyone who works for Patrón happen to go on this site? Would you guys be interested in purchasing an ad? We have some great product placement opportunities as well. The Wavy Baby with a switch back Patrón slide. Photo by Pryce Holmes.

The New York Knicks won a playoff game. It only took eleven years.

Chris Nieratko did a great interview with Erik Ellington for Sneeze Mag about [no longer doing] drugs, alcohol, health food, living in Alaska, cooking with olive oil, stretching, etc. “I talk to people that are younger than me that don’t skate and they’re really old. They’re physically worn out, they’re mentally worn out and I think the people that we surround ourselves with in skateboarding allows us to stay young.”

“The Los Angeles City Council voted Wednesday to seek a speed limit for skateboarders and penalize them for failing to follow a range of traffic rules…” The photos indicate that this is mostly due to l*ngb**rders, but L.A. suucckks.

If you’re having a fit while your girlfriend films you try a 360 flip off the Mambo Bar ledge 50 times, keep in mind that it might wind up on YouTube.

Jonathan Mehring with some photos of a Sunday session at New York’s most famous metal curb on the Skateboarder site.

Black Dave “Life in the City — Part 1.” The bucket hat on Obama is a good look.

Back when there were actually skate spots in Hoboken, we used to wonder if someone would ever drop-in on the Pier A gazebo. A guy did it on a bike, so a Natural Koncept rider doing it isn’t far away. Weezy has five racks on it. (The real question: How did he get a bike up there?)

Some idiot who writes for the Post suggested that Jay-Z rename the Brooklyn Nets, “The New York N—-s.” People obviously got upset about how, you know, that’s racist, and insanely stupid to print in a major newspaper, but nobody pointed out that he stole the idea from a 15-year-old Chris Rock routine.
