Spots: Brooklyn — Bushwick, Greenpoint & Williamsburg
Spot: Mambo Bar is the quintessential New York cellar door spot. It actually had the best set-up of its type, until the building knobbed portions of it, and put up a rail blocking off the middle Philly step section. What remains is a backside for regular/frontside for goofy, foot-and-a-half high concrete ledge into a perpendicular cellar door. The ledge has gotten chunky over the years, but is still manageable for grinds. Bring some wax, just in case.
Bust — ♦ / Rare: You should not get kicked out of here. Watch out that your board doesn’t shoot into traffic and get run over though.
Location: Morgan Avenue and Johnson Avenue, kind of on the border between Williamsburg and Bushwick. Take the L train to Morgan Avenue, and skate north on Morgan for three blocks until you hit Johnson Avenue.
