Had a rough past week for site updates. Just spent a lot of time trying to figure life out, yaknow? (No, not returning to the dark days of 2006-2009 where it was updated three times a month — the modern news cycle couldn’t handle that, r u crazy?)

What a week for wheel company videos! If the future of skate videos isn’t in a Shorty’s Guilty VHS tape or fifteen-second IG edits, maybe sub-two minute wheel company videos could be a guiding light? Jordan Trahan for Autobahn with the non-IG angle of 2014’s 360 Flip of the Year / leading practitioner of boardslide-tech, Jesus Fernandez, with a quick part for Bones Wheels (sidebar: I was recently informed of a weird sect that swears by Bones over Spitfires…is this real?) / Michael “Top 3 Person to See Skate in Real Life” Mackrodt with a part for a potentially unsubtle drug front.

Lurker Lou came through with a wear test for the Osiris D3. Apparently, it’s not much different than skating a foamposite.

Tyler, the Tufty has the opener in the D.C-based “Alley Bar 9.”

New iPhone edit via Rob Gonyon with a bunch of the Bronze guys, and one of the highlights off Barter 6.

A half-minute of J-John the Don footage from the Krooked Korea trip.

This video got e-mailed to us more that pretty much any other video ever throughout the past week. It’s good for a few laughs.

There are a lot of new things to skate in Milan, beyond just the train station.

They made one of those “oral histories” about Redman’s Cribs episode. “The reason I was on the floor was because the couch — you know how it is when you’re sleeping on a leather couch and it gets all hot? When it’s too hot to sleep on the couch, I just go right to the floor. It’s a cooler situation.”

Still in Miami

Thanks to everyone who grabbed something from the webstore this past week. We’re just getting caught up with orders now, so please hold any “Where’s my stuff”-emails until at least the middle of the week. Still some sizes in hoodys, shorts and jerseys left, plus all sizes of the tees except the Vacation one :)

Sort of on that same note, can’t recall an interview that really elaborated on just how much money the average “A-list” pro skateboarder made in the early-2000s as Jenkem’s new one with Kenny Getz re: “the CKY era.”

Someone on Slap scanned the entire Olson TWS cover interview in a readable resolution. All New York photos. He does darkslides now.

Wenning was stressed out filming for Photosynthesis ten days before deadline.

After numerous false starts at digitizing their archive, Know Skate and TWS announced that every 411VM segment will be available via an app by the end of this year. (ICYMI: Somewhat relevant old QS post.)

Haven’t seen much from this dude as of late, but glad he’s still putting out solid parts: New one from Austin Kanfoush. Boardslide S.F. 3-up-3-down is super chill.

NY Skateboarding has a bit more info on the skatepark being built in place of the Fat Kid Spot. And yes, they should keep the name “Fat Kid Spot” for it, with the green Parks Department leaf under the name and all. Don’t forget that there’s also supposed to be a new park built in Harlem for the summer, too. (Even though #lenox4ever.)

This was a cool read. These “20 Years of Girl / Chocolate” interviews tend to all go down similar lines of questioning, but it feels like there aren’t a ton of Jeron Wilson interviews out there, so…

The first-ever Vans video, Propeller, is premiering in New York on May 1st, at 10 P.M., right by Columbus Circle on 62nd and Broadway.

If you haven’t already seen Eli Reed’s X-Games “Real Street” part, you should give it a few rewinds. The FedEx ollie is a bit crazier than any footage would lead someone who hasn’t been there to believe. Eli might be the best switch skater out right now, and king of the Alligator Ledge.

Uploaded Jahmal Williams’ tricks from Welcome to M.I.A. to YouTube for the sake of having easy access to the part. The Houston Street footage is great. There’s nothing wrong with a long backside boardslide on a row of Jersey barriers, or still bringing Eastern Exposure spot sensibilities to 2011. The video has been out for a while now, but if it’s not on your shelf yet, purchase it over on MIAskateshop.com.

While on the topic of Jersey barriers, Bushwick Will posted a story about stealing Triton barriers in response to the great parking block heist of 2011. It should persuade any impulsive skateboarder to better assess the consequences when obtaining (presumably useless) objects for makeshift, D.I.Y., etc. spots. (Still do it, just plan it out better.)

Vote for the Familia Skateshop / Flow Trash crew in Nike’s upcoming “Chosen” competition. Davis Torgerson came out of that camp, but there are a whole bunch of dudes all the way up in Minnesota that rip just as hard.

This photo of Bogdan Dzyurak at Columbus Park is pretty sick. Similar to Eli’s aforementioned FedEx ollie, it’s another instance of documentation never being able to relay the sketchiness of the spot, in addition to the decades of urine waiting in that corner if you happen to bail on the trick.

Much like skateboarders should stop decreasing their life expectancy by taking $5 Chinatown buses, you guys should also stop moving into sketchy “artists’ lofts” in Bushwick.
