It’s chill that Jeezy chose to cash out at the best slice spot in Manhattan, out of all places.

Given the tremendous momentum of the #phatstylez movement, the QS Fashion Desk will slowly be streamlined into a dedicated Phat Stylez website. Until that happens, you can browse recent happenings in the world of Phat Stylez through the movement’s Instagram tag.

A bunch of Swedes took a trip to New York in 1998, and uploaded the 15-year-old video of their journey online. Features a backside flip over the Trump Tower six rail from the illustrious Geo Moya, mad Rhythm cargo pants (#phatstylez?), and too many reasons to tear up over long-gone spots. Shout to the Broadway Bump.

The Grove Street PATH station in Jersey City seems pretty trife these days. This same thing probably happened 10 times over this past weekend after that awful St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Many assumed its production had been marred by alcohol and other familiar trappings of New York. We feared it would never be released. Well, several inside sources revealed that the finished product is upon us, and set for release this month. Revisit the original Useless Times trailer below.

Here are a few things that surfaced in the past two weeks. China didn’t have YouTube or Vimeo, and 90% of the skate-related portion of the internet involves those two sites. Sorry if you’re seeing week-old content, bro.

Sweet Paradise, a once crucial corner of the constantly-declining Barmuda Triangle, is slated to close for good in the near-future. Grab a drink in it’s current dilapidated state, and share stories with some friends. Thanks for the memories, and all the free drinks. Thanks for hosting Galen and Danny’s birthday three years in a row. Thanks for hosting the Danny Weiss Dis-Own-A-Thon. One less place for girls to get a skater boyfriend.

Darren Harper on being “The Obama of Skateboarding,” friends borrowing bullets, partying with Paris Hilton, and the Manny Mania incident.

A weekend in New York edit sent in by a reader. Includes a soundtrack by French Montana (who’s destined to get mauled by a bear for karma reasons), and Jeremy Lin inspired titles.

A 14-second Mighty Healthy commercial featuring Gino Iaanucci, and a 60-second Venture commercial featuring Danny Falla and Silvester Eduardo.

Turns out that the so-bad-it’s-good “masterpiece” ABC Skateshop video from 2000, Remedy, has been online for the past year. Though it’s awful in a variety of ways (what other video dedicates a part to harassing NYU students?), it is still a nice glimpse into what New York skating looked and felt like twelve years ago. Fun watch if you’re bored, feeling nostalgic, and at least six beers deep.

Everyone has seen these Bill Eppridge photos of New York skateboarding in the 1960s for Life magazine, but not enough attention has been given to this particular photo. Proof that time travel exists, or merely Shawn Powers’ extra futuristicly swagged out great uncle?

A story came out yesterday stating that Max B’s appeal was denied, meaning he would remain in jail until at least 2042. Mr. Montana placed a called to Mr. Wingate to confirm that this is all false, and insisted that a court date was imminent.

To think that only a month ago, we were claiming we wouldn’t mention the NFL for a few years. Congratulations to the New York Giants. The Knicks are never winning anything (especially when you need 25 points & 7 assists from a Chinese Harvard graduate to beat the Nets…), so perhaps we should direct our local sports radar beyond basketball.

In other Super Bowl / Skate-Related News: Fred Gall wins the Dobbin Block Super Bowl squares pool, Paul Rodriguez does what is presumably one of history’s more expensive switch flips for a Samsung commercial (@ 0:56), Mixtape star and circa-1997 “King of Style,” Peter Bici, informs close friends that “Boston sucks” immediately after New York’s victory, and Gucci Mane declares the trap’s comeback. Does anyone go to U Mass? You guys didn’t handle the loss too well, huh?

The most interesting post-Super Bowl development? Cam’ron resurrects the nearly three-year-old Cousin Bang project for a special Super Bowl edition. He still insists that the full-length movie is coming soon (original trailer here.)

Paulgar put together a six-minute montage from the late-Autumn era featuring Jake Johnson, Ted Barrow, Kevin Tierney, Brian Delatorre, and other QS-favorites. Some of the footage is previously unseen. All shot in/around New York, minus a few Miami clips from that awful “short film” Paul made starring Lemony Snicketts.

To answer our own question from a few months ago about when skaters will get tired of editing videos to songs off Jeru the Damaja’s The Sun Rises in the East — not anytime soon.

Fresh off the demise of the Santa Monica Sand Gaps, Los Angeles loses another iconic skate spot (one that actually deserves to be a famous skate spot.) The Department of Water & Power Benches are knobbed.

The Shit U Not blog offers a tour through a classic Big Brother issue (#22). Andy Roy on the cover, Gino Iannucci interview, a Chris Keefe Capital Skateboards ad, and other varying points of interest.

The official video “Got One” by 2 Chainz just dropped, and it’s easy to say that the Torey Goodall version does the song way more justice.

THE MONUMENTAL 2 CHAINZ NYC DEBUT IS UPON US (AND SOLD OUT.) “I HAD MAD PEOPLE CALLING ME ASKING WHY I DIDN’T GET THEM A TICKET, I’M LIKE, ‘I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW YOU LIKE 2 CHAINZ.'”

“In 1992, I filmed an interview with my friend, former pro skateboarder, Jeff. Jeff was at the lowest point of his career. This footage has been unseen for almost 20 years.” Peter Sidlauskas = Oscar winner by 2043? Billy McFeely “Best Actor in a Leading Role” winner by 2036? Not no, right?

Kalis now owns two of the benches from Philadelphia City Hall. Skateboarding wins. (Supposedly, a bench like that runs for ~$5K, which means you could make a perfect skatepark with $30-40K, zero “ramps,” and a paved lot…)

Jimmy Marketti uploaded a montage of new old footage that looks like it came from the mid-2000s. Unseen Rob Campbell clips, Andrew Reynolds second angles, and a somber look at the original back of Union Square.

Some raw footage live from the Tompkins bench, a dive into the odd mind of Shawn Powers, and Tribeca Park stuff that you could probably skip. Tompkins > Tribeca.

While on the topic of nineties west coast company excursions to the east, this 1994 clip of the Girl, Chocolate & Firm east coast tour (from 411 #8) is worth a look. There’s a New York section at the end, but it’s mostly lifestyle clips.

A well-written, contemplative, and occasionally Freudian analysis of “why l*ngb**rds suck” by Will Staley. Naturally, someone in the comments posted a link to a video insisting “You have no idea what can be done on a l*ngb**rd. It puts skateboarders to shame.”

“Skateboards as props in rap videos hit a new, unforeseeable, low recently in Soulja Boy’s video for ’50/13.’ Dude on the left is holding a deck with no griptape, trucks, or wheels. It is not a skateboard; it’s just a board.”

A pair of interviews from two of the finest content-creators in skateboarding went online last week, and they’re definitely worth your time: Robert Brink and Patrick O’Dell. The O’Dell one should have been more in-depth, but whatever.

The Be Pretty video is now online in full. Highlights include a front 3 up Three-Up-Three-Down and a Flushing grate gap NBD, and a reminder that Big L was ahead of his time with the whole “From New York and never was a fan of the Knicks” thing, considering the current 7-13 mess we’re in.

We finally made it onto Instagram. Follow @ Quartersnacks. It’s late because somebody registered “quartersnacks” before we had the chance to, and we decided to avoid it altogether out of stubbornness. Turns out that dude is a total bro, and was down to give up the username. Thanks to the homie Aidan for being a good sport about it. Never knew how many people were actually on Instacraze either, it’s wild. (Funny how everyone has the same cell phone now.)

Green Diamond 2011 leftovers video. Features Nick Boserio killing it, Malfa utilizing the newly-reinvogorated slappy crook, and Brian Anderson footage.

Frozen in Carbonite on parallels between Oscar Wilde and the new Sk8Mafia video. “I think Oscar Wilde might possibly have skated, but not extensively. He would have morphed into the kid who sits at the spot, getting up occasionally to try a few soft-footed nollie b/s bigspins, commenting on everyone’s style ‘n shit.”

There’s a nice feature with Steven Lora (“Lil’ Steven”) on Slap right now. A lot of people linked the video for it, but neglected to mention it was a full-on article. Good to see the young kids who rip at 12th Street every day getting some coverage. The catch frame on the back lip flip-out sequence is solid.

Billy McFeely is a sick actor.

In all honesty, the Skavenger BMX video is better than most of the skate videos to come out this year. If you make skate videos, you could learn a thing or ten from these dudes.

If you didn’t get a new du-rag in your stocking this Christmas, at least you can watch the latest “Krispy Du-Rag” clip with your dusty one on. Switch front 5050s up hubbas, Rob Gonyon skating to Future, etc.

Josh Stewart’s site has Poisonous Products DVDs for sale. $10, and you don’t need to wait for it to arrive from Canada.
