Four-word Review of Based on a T.R.U. Story: Pluto is way better.

While on the topic of 2 Chainz, there is another round of Death Video throwaways edited to his insistence of starting a riot.

The next thing you should watch today is Manolo’s “Best of” Jovontae Turner mixtape. It puts particular emphasis on the proper form of a 360 flip, and is edited to a RBL Posse song closely associated with one of the more infamous PWBC episodes.

We missed this month-old early entry to the “Summer Trip to New York” clip cycle. The residents surrounding a certain park on 8th Avenue sure do have a lot of “real” issues to worry about. Apparently, you deserve to go to prison for skateboarding.

Some kids from Jersey threw together a pretty cool 19-minute mini video filmed in New York and outlying areas. Shout out to everyone who takes a NJ Transit train to skate Manhattan every day. NJ Transit suucckks.

Black Dave is opening up for Juicy J at an event in Brooklyn this Thursday.

2012 is weird, man. Dylan Rieder, ASAP Rocky, Zoe Kravitz and other people in the September issue of Vogue. Looks like Rieder settled for Alexander Wang as a fashion sponsor instead of joining Alex Olson on Chanel.

Well, now we know the answer to last November’s question about whether or not dollar burgers could steal some marketshare from New York’s dollar slice industry. A resounding “NO.” Hopefully, no one went in there to try it out.

Our two friends, Adam Abada and Zach Baker, are taking upon themselves the intensive task of skateboarding from Boston to New York (on non-cruiser wheels) starting later this week. Here’s a Cincinnati crew’s clip of a trip to New York. Features various Dobbin Block personalities. It seems that someone editing a skate clip to a song off the new Nas album happened quicker than everyone forgetting about it altogether. (“Oh Nas has a new album out? Is it in the ‘Best Nas album since It Was Written‘ category or the ‘Best Nas album since Stillmatic‘ category?”) Though to be fair, the clip is edited to one of Life is Good‘s better moments. The album’s highlight is him actually admitting he makes music for people stuck in the 90s.

Another early entry in the annual cycle of “Summer Trip to New York” clips, which usually lasts from late-July to mid-October. There’s a sick homage to Loki’s signature Astor Place move at 0:51.

Skateboarding over flood damage via The Weather Channel. *Insert skateboard documentary cliché about how “Skaters, like, totally see the world differently, dude.”*

Spot Updates: 1) The city removed the fat flat rails that were across the street from the Citibank building in Long Island City. 2) They knobbed another ledge at the Seaport. 3) Not sure how recent this is, but another mythological food establishment in downtown Manhattan skateboard lore has closed down. R.I.P. Wendy’s on Water Street. It now joins the ranks of the Fulton Street Burger King and the Water Street Burritoville.

Capone-N-Noreaga-N-Tragedy’s The War Report A.K.A. one of the top three rap albums ever recorded, turned 15 yesterday. Just listen through the whole thing.

Divison East in Montclair, NJ has closed up shop. However, they launched an online store carrying only local brands. Buy something and support New Jersey’s economy. (The 28th best state economy!)

Zered Bassett has a new commercial out to promote his guest board on UXA. The turnaround on someone skating to “Mercy” was pretty quick, huh? There’s a quick article about the release over on Red Bull site. P.S. QS x Zered video coming soon.

Five on That is a New York-based video that has been going online part-by-part over the past several weeks. You can check out the uploaded parts on this YouTube page. Teaser here. We’ll be disappointed if the ender section isn’t edited to Luniz.

New spot in Midtown. Two Flushing-height marble ledges without real ends on top of a three-stair platform. Same material as the new Grace ledges (!!!). The not-much-of-a-“spot” that it got built in place of wasn’t really a bust before, but it won’t be surprising if the new one is. New York = if the spot is good, it’s a bust.

Kevin DuFlockaRant V.S. Lebron Flocka James

We’re on the cusp of possibly living in a world where Eddy Curry has an NBA championship ring. No justice. Anyway, DuFlockaRant is a way better mixtape than any of the Lebron Flocka James tapes, so you know who we’re going for…

“I found a bucket and I put it on my head because stuff was falling all over the place,” Gall continues, “and I’m screaming, ‘Where’s the women and children?’ But there are no women and children because it’s a monk monastery. I was just in hero mode — just trying to save lives, dude.” A story about Fred Gall saving a bunch of Cambodian monks from a fire. Jaws wouldn’t do that, he’d just ollie off the building. Vote Freddy.

Here’s a glimpse of a fairly underexposed skate scene: Capetown, South Africa (there might be some U.K. footage in there though.) A lack of a Tompkins Square Park withstanding, their spots don’t look much different from the ones in the northeastern United States.

While we’re on the topic of Africa, these dudes are way gnarlier than any skater on the planet (except maybe Fred Gall.)

G-Shock did a commercial segment with QS-homie Rafael “Haffa” Pereira. The “How do you dress?” question was first answered with “Man, I don’t fucking know,” before resorting to a more diplomatic (and hilarious) answer of “The way I dress is urban.”

Lil’ Boosie was found not guilty on Friday. He’s still serving a maximum sentence of eight years for unrelated charges. DGB says his people claim he’ll be out in 12-18 months. Thankfully, he’s one dude who we don’t have to worry about signing to some garbage rap conglomerate when he gets out.

It would be great if The New York Times never ever ever wrote about skateboarding again. (This article from 2004 was cool though.)

Frozen in Carbonite dwells on parallels between soldiers and skaters, whether or not Jimmy Darmody from Boardwalk Empire would’ve skated in mid-’10s central Jersey, Heller’s Catch 22, the prospect of banging nurses on some Italian beach during WWII, an A-Team resurgence, Katy Perry, and other stuff.
