Free Skate Mag has another Lucas Puig Instagram remix, edited to that Young Thug song that everyone really tried to make happen #in #da #club at the start of the summer but already forgot about. Works great for the vid though.

The “Summer Trip to New York” edits are finally starting to roll in! As is the DS2 music supervision! Thought it was a drought! D.C’s Palace 5ive rolled up to New York for a bit and came back with a five-minute VX montage.

Someone made a new Cyrus Bennett remix with a bunch of his HD video blog footage.

Happy New Year. Last week was a wash. Not much happened, nor did a lot of #hot #new #content appear on the skateboard internet. If you want to catch up on stuff you missed in 2014, beyond the standard year-end sources, check Slam City Skates’ list of favorite parts from British skateboarders of note or your “favourite” European skateboarder’s “favourites” from the year.

Discovering how fun and unrefined Hungarian skateboarding looks was one of our “favourite” developments of 2014, so here’s the new one from Budapest’s Rios Crew.

A #listicle of the best tricks done down Clipper, which experienced quite a resurgence this year. Switch front blunt and alley oop 180 switch back 5050 got snubbed fam. That, and Muska switch noseslide should have been number one.

A late but enjoyable entrant to the “Summer Trip to New York” clip cycle.

Yo you know what’s really annoying about DVS tour videos? You see them and think, “Oh sick, I get to see Daewon skate outside of his typical SoCal comfort zone” — but then dude only has like 2-3 clips in the entire video. ANYWAY, The DVS team is pretty fun: Torey Pudwill took the Reres Award from whoever may have previously held it for the Milan grate this year, that fakie 5050-halfcab-5050-180 combo is wild, and Luis’ grind down the Le Dome hubba from the flat part (it’s over waist high) is insane.

This was the best video of 2014. Truly inspiring stuff. He really is the best:

Diamond Days #75. Forrest Edwards would be bummed on this one. Interesting that the curb-cut island on E. 9th and Third Avenue has become one of the most #trending spots of 2014, despite the fact that every human who has ever skated in New York passes it ~50x a week on the way to Tompkins. Skate it before NYU buys it.

Dudes who play the guitar for more than the #lifestyle shot of their magazine interview: Daniel Lebron with an intro to flamenco over on the Live Skate Media site. Some of the best #lowkey #musicsupervision on QS was when we were able to snag a recording of Dani playing for our 2011 Barcelona edit.

Always been a fan of these jazzy, night footage-heavy clips from Grace Skate Co. “Taped On” is their latest, though its for fans chill ambience and mellow skating, rather than dudes jumping over Black Hubba.

More along the lines of the Bobby Shmurda clip everyone was expecting. At least this one actually has the dance in it.

The 2013 New York Skateboarding Year in Review: 15-11

Apologies for this being a bit late. We spent all of yesterday looking for the only dry spot in New York. Past installments here: #s 25-21, #s 20-16.

15. R.I.P. to an Empire, the Water Street McDonald’s Closes

For every great skate spot, there is an accompanying fast food restaurant: the Burger King down the street from the Banks, the McDonald’s up the hill from Pulaski, the Wawa by Love, or the In-N-Out across from Hollywood High.

Water Street was once the most heavily treaded road of lower Manhattan skateboarders; Pappalardo and Wenning’s days of going to Burritoville near Pyramid Ledges to sustain on free nachos are well known. But that place closed. The aforementioned Burger King is now a high end grocery store. The nearby Wendy’s was turned into a tourist center. And this past year, the final remaining destination for hungry, poor skateboarders, shut its doors. Skating on Water Street isn’t irrelevant just because all of the spots are knobbed — but because everyone except the top 1% of skateboarders (those with an above minimum-wage income any income whatsoever, who can afford a Chipotle burrito) have effectively been priced out, right down to food options.
