Attn cities: The “Skateboarders = skateparks” way of thinking isn’t cutting it anymore.

With some 58,000+ signatures and proper organization, skateboarders have, at the very least, delayed the reconstruction of the legendary South Bank spot in London. The group behind the the preservation has applied to grant the space “village green” status, which protects historic places for sports and pasttimes. Meanwhile, the Small Banks are a rotting carcass of bricks, dust and heroin needles.

Luis Tolentino confirms that his pop comes from eating bricks, and skates around New York’s biggest borough with Rodney Torres and the legendary Rob Campbell.

With Outdated behind us, Elijah Cole insisting that the Cathode video is coming out “next month” is the new Kevin Tierney insisting that J.P’s video is coming out “next month.” Anyway, new here’s a new promo for Cathode.

Features Lurker Lou victim Matt Militano, Sage Elsesser, Aidan Mackey, Ben Kadow, a few big Dylan Reider fans, and some other people you’d recognize from the T.F. Add this to your list of things to look forward to in 2013: FTC is putting a book together about its storied history. “Featuring interviews, photos, classic ads, memorabilia by FTC’s most legendary affiliates.” Due out in fall 2013. Check out the FTC book blog for continued updates.

The architecture website, ArchDaily, offers a reasonable take on the whole Southbank relocation saga going on in London right now, drawing obvious comparisons to Love Park. “Skating is one of only a handful of cultures that forms such strong, quasi-religious attachments to discovered rather than purpose-built spaces.”

Jahmal Williams describes the thought process one goes through when deciding whether or not to stab someone, among other things in his “Free Lunch” segment.

We’ve been fans of Christian Willis’ skating for a while now. After what seems like a bit of a hiatus, he’s back taller and with a sick new video part. Why a legitimate company hasn’t given this kid a chance is absurd. Him and Forrest Edwards should be getting checks for skating.

As you may already know, London’s Southbank is facing an uncertain future. There’s a new six-minute montage paying tribute to the spot, featuring every London-based skater you can think of. Huck wrote a somewhat level-headed appraisal of the situation, which doesn’t seem likely to favor preservation of the spot as it stands. But it’s a bit stupid to say “The British skate media is secretly tired of Southbank’s status as the UK’s EMB,” considering skate spots with multi-decade spanning histories are becoming increasingly rare with each passing year.
