Getting There, Getting There, Getting There…

This is perhaps the *SECOND* (!) time in this skateboard media enterprise’s modern history that there has been THREE :( Monday Links post to hold the five slots on the homepage. We’re working our way out of this slow news cycle + backend work and should be good to roll with more than two continuous updates to share with you by this time next week. (Hopefully! …but actually!) O.J. has a cruiser clip with the actual best skater, Jawn Gardner.

Frog collaborated with Noah on a run of printables, and made this six-minute clip fetauring Jesse Alba, Chris Millic, office favorite Krazy Frankie, and Pat Gallaher, with spiritual guidance from self-help guru, Jason Byoun.

“Oh yeah, I remember what that comment said actually. It was like, ‘My 5 year old cousin could make this on Microsoft Paint.’ Do you actually use Microsoft Paint?” Noah also has an interview with Chris about the history of the always-triggering Frog factory.

The Canal crew has a new edit filmed exclusively at the Grand Street basketball courts (I guess we’ve all just been forced to come to terms with that spot to the point of it being an acceptable place to spend an entire day, huh?), and an interview about their brand over on the Office mag site.

…aanndd the latest round of Elkin raw tapes has footage from the spot before its colorful make-over, and good God did it look way more depressing five years ago.

Free has somewhat of an interview / feature about how they came to “get” Sean Pablo, plus The Shady One™ filmed a bit of a “Day in the Life” montage with him on the occasion of his Cons colorway. Shout out to meeting at T.F. West, skating over the Williamsburg Bridge, only to skate back to regular T.F.

“Cleardata” is a twelve-minute video that offers a glimpse into what post-apocalyptic Philadelphia skateboarding looks like in 2018.

This one of a bunch of upstate N.Y. dudes doing some non-obvious Paris spots earned a couple rewatches. Always nice when a trip video feels like something more than just a mere footage dump.

E.J. told me Antwerp was his favorite city at one point in time. The #RC-enthusiast POP Trading boys made it a point to film their entire new fall launch montage there.

Diego and Tyshawn are leading everyone else in 2018 for tricks that leave phone screens and comment sections, and actually enter conversation between IRL humans.

Tufty showed up and surprised us in Paris on our first day, then we didn’t see him for the rest of our trip because he was doing grown man shit, like waking up before 1 P.M. to go skate spots before they get too crowded.

TWS also uploaded 411 issue #2, which features a Tom Penny “Wheels of Fortune” section filmed exclusively at the skatepark that Palace’s winter pop-up park, Mwadlands, was based on. Fwiw, 411 creator, Josh Friedberg, said that the Penny section was one of his favorites ever from the video mag’s run.

Staletape is a 28-minute long Philly scene video by Joe Ostrowski.

“Whereas Torey Pudwill’s arm motions often hit the red while balancing on history’s most drawn-out backside smith grinds and backside tailslides, Magnus Bordewick’s flapping generally coincides with rocketing pop and crater-making impacts.” Boil the Ocean re: the state of arm movements in skateboarding and Magnus’ new part.

As long as you walk outside and hear “waaaaaa waaa waaa” coming from car speakers every thirty seconds, the summer is going to keep getting extended. This Insta remix of QS office fave, Ruben Spelta, should help you stay stoked for the rest of the week — though why not use, like, an actual M.J. song. Euros, man.

New York is a big place and it’s always refreshing to watch videos dominantly filmed outside of the L.E.S. Park/Williamsburg/Columbus Park groupthink bubble. Angel Fonseca’s new 17-minute video, “Stay Fufu,” chronicles the extended fam of all the locals at the Bronx Courthouse.

This is the exact opposite of Dime’s “Speed Challenge.”

German fashion and art mag, 032c, profiled Jason Dill and Fucking Awesome.

A question that has gently been whispered among conspiracy theorists for years now: Did the United States government fake Tony Hawk landing the 900?

Summer Mondays

Was contemplating taking a four-day weekend and not posting Monday Links until Wednesday, but got enough people in the office to cruise around the internet for a bit. Russ got MVP, Phil got fired and Tyshawn fakie ollied a trash can in front of Supreme since the last Monday Links post, and all of those things feel like they happened a month ago…(Don’t know who took the photo above btw.)

There are a bunch of Alltimers boys in the Blue Collar Hardware video, made by the same minds as the Green Apple videos a la secretly some of the most influential videos of the past ten years / the first influence Peter cites in any Bronze-related interview / lol at people in comments calling it a Bronze bite.

Romain Batard uploaded a “Summer Trip to New York” montage with one of the cooler recent lines at Fredrick Douglas Plaza. Also, why does it seem like that spot almost exclusively appears in “_____ Trip to New York” videos?

LurkNYC put together another Hotel Blue montage + another NY Times outtakes clip.

Theories of Atlantis got all urban planner on us and broke down Robert Moses’ circumstantial influence on New York skate spots — though not sure Stuy-Town is really an actual spot for normal humans.

Seems like it has been a big past couple of years for spots resurrecting. Here’s an interview about the effort to restore London’s Southbank undercroft to its original form from pre-2004. (Small Banks helllllooooo.)

You probably caught this one already: Nick Ferro dropped a rad part for Grand Collection. No rapper did anything too cool with that beat and it’s sad :(

Tennyson came through with yet another 411 remix, this time of Kareem Campbell and Donger. Essential viewing, especially the Kareem demo / contest footage. Wow.

You probably caught this already, but Bronze dropped a video right after #QSTOP10 had been submitted on Thursday, entitled 56,000. Best Jordan footy since the 5Boro video :) Josh Wilson looks really hot in it too ♥

Been a heavy week on the remix video circuit. After all, remixing pros’ loose footage is our version of fantasy sports, and it’s February, sooooo…

The Tennyson Corporation, skateboarding’s finest remix house, put together an incredible part of Drake Jones and Pepe Martinez, utilizing all the clips they’ve ever had in 411 videos. Does Drake Jones have the best non-Kalisian tre flip?

Can’t remember the last time the word “beautiful” came to mind watching a skate video, but this remix of all Jesus Fernandez’s footage since Pretty Sweet to “Hang On To Your Love” is perfect. Perhaps more than any other skater, Jesus has a remarkable ability to make tricks that have no business looking good look incredible.

Here’s an unofficial “pro mix” of Sean Pablo on the occasion of his first pro board.

Skateboarding x Black History Month via Mehrathon. Stay tuned for something special with the guy who opens up that montage later this week. (Not Paul Mooney.)

Someone remixed a bunch of arbitrary Johnny Wilson footage for a clip called “Fountain.” We’d like a give a special shout out to the one video blog clip a week era.

Handful of loosies from full videos also went online this past week: 1) Here’s Elijah Cole’s part from Lurkers 3, which you could buy a hard copy of over on Joe Cups’ website. 2) Zach Moore’s part from Insano, Pete Spooner’s half New York / half Minneapolis video. 3) Here’s Jersey Dave’s part (Quim cameo!) and Matt Genovese’s part from Steven Mastorelli’s Meadowlands video, a Jersey project very much in the tradition of Justin White, J.P. Blair, et al. 4) Shawn Butler’s lost part from Harry Bergenfield’s Drama video.

Pretty sure we were in Spain when this happened (maybe its even older news than that), but official final R.I.P. to 12th & A. They repaved the entire court with shitty, soft blacktop. And there’s a “No Skateboarding” sign for the first time ever…at a school that once included skateboard classes in its phys ed curriculum. Cool.

QS Sports Desk: Never gave one of these to Lebron before, mainly just on some hater shit, but this is one of the most insane things I’ve ever witnessed in my basketball viewing life. Just *look* at the Wizards bench.
