“NESH” is a rad New York edit from Victor Garland, featuring every spot we were too lazy to venture out to when we had the “where do we skate?” debate yesterday.

There are mixed reports about the severity of the whole police situation right now, but be careful if you skate the new Brooklyn D.I.Y. spot. Apparently, *building* may be more of an issue than just skating. Max Palmer never hurt nobody.

Shout out to the Long Live Southbank organization for keeping ambitions running high. They started up a fundraiser (with a million dollar goal) to restore a section of the spot that has been closed and un-used since 2004. The promo video for it is sick. (And P.S. The Banks are never truly “back” until the city restores the small Banks.)

Philly is going from having three of the most iconic street plazas within one block of one another, to potentially zero by next summer. Place can’t catch a break :(

The Columbus Circle line with the cruise against three lanes of traffic was rad, and in the nineties tradition of going out of your way to end a line off with a flatground trick.

2017 is full of surprises — even pleasant ones! Just when we were getting worried he stopped going in, perennial QS-office fave and composer of modern times’ finest love song, Rich Homie Quan, dropped a really, really good album last week. (Zillion dollar idea: Lock Quan and Thug in a room, force them to become friends again, give them all the instrumentals from Carti’s new album, boom, world peace.)

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: Stoked to see John Wall out there leading and thriving more each postseason, galaxies removed from the McGee/Nick Young/Arenas era Wizards, who were admittedly the funniest basketball team of this generation.

Do You Believe in Life After Bruns? — The Nik Stain Skate Jawn Mix

Following yesterday’s infallible proclamation re: this decade’s finest video part (said proclamation has nothing to do with the circumstances within which it was proclaimed, i.e. it was still the best video part of the 2010s last week, last month, and last year), an office discussion about distant second and third places to get our minds wandering ensued. In the heavily biased corridors of the QS office, the answer rests somewhere between Max Palmer in Sure and Nik Stain in Bruns. We threw Tom Knox’s Vase part along with Nick Jensen’s Eleventh Hour Kate Bush tribute in there for good English measure, but it’s totally fine if your vote is, like, *normal* e.g. Reynolds in Stay Gold or Mark Suciu’s Cross Continental part or something.

Unlike the aforementioned names, Nik Stain has been rather elusive since dropping his opus for said convo. There was a brief appearance in Bruns‘ Jawn Gardner-starring sequel, but otherwise, the work of the finest back smith performance artist since Correa got on Nicotine Wheels has only appeared bit-by-bit in montages. And so, an enterprising scholar of Russian skateboarding with a minor in manual pad studies put together this skate noise-less mix of Nik Stain B-sides. Culled from Cell Jawn videos, Bruns 2 and Johnny’s video blogs, this is the best we’re getting until the QS office’s next door neighbor Login Lava makes the 917 video.
