He also dunked in the game yesterday and he’s 93 years old. It’d be nice if the Kawai thing isn’t serious :(

Germany’s Solo mag caught up with Pontus Alv for an extra-detailed interview about the Polar video, the classic “r full videos #relevant?!”-discussion, the origins of the title, and how he still hates the song he skated to in Mad Circle’s Five Flavors.

So far, the only plus side to extended Instagram videos is this J.B. Gillett warm-up clip.

Upon hearing Prince had died, one of the first things that popped to mind was Chris Milic’s It’s a Secret part. I YouTubed it once I was back at a computer, and the comments revealed that I was not the only one: “This made me start listening to Prince more.” Everyone loves a lazy discussion about the #importance of skate videos in 2016, but they still leave long-lasting imprints when done right. Whether they’re watched off an old tube TV, a computer screen, or a cell phone really doesn’t matter.

5. The Year of Columbus Park

For a spot that has been around for so long, Columbus Park didn’t become the ~~main~~ only place people go if they leave L.E.S. Park until recently. There was Puleo’s INFMS line, A.V.E’s ollie over 5050, and the seminal 2002 “Ja$onwear Day” clip that may have been the second time the kinked ledge ever got waxed — but besides routine 2000s video appearances of the ledge, the spot was never a bustling nexus until now. In 2015, it clocked two major video enders, one magazine cover, a newly established A.B.D. docket of tricks done up the two block, and is the place you are most likely to see a group of semi-motivated skateboarders pointing iPhones at each other.

The Warschauer Benches are on the shortlist of the funnest spots I’ve ever skated, and they’re nothing more than a better version of the Newport blocks from ~15 years ago. Kingpin has a full feature on their creation and history. Amazing how the formula for a perfect skate spot is no more sophisticated than decent ground + wooden benches + metal, and how often that goes ignored.

Isle’s Vase video is premiering on Thursday, November 19 at 8 P.M. and Paul Young’s Bleach video is premiering on Wednesday, November 25 at 8 P.M. Guess what theater? If you guessed the Imax on 68th Street, then you guessed wrong.

Did you know Fully Flared premiered eight years ago to the day? Village Psychic looked back on Anthony Pappalardo’s seminal yet at-the-time misunderstood section, which inspired legions of twenty-somethings to scour Bushwick for unchartered crust, caused a 5% spike in applications to Pratt’s sculpture program, and skyrocketed the demand for brown chino fabric among the world’s textile mills.
