Chicken For Gang

Ty Beall via Skate Jawn #68 and his part in Chrome Zone (2023), on account of New York moving towards discontinuing the green shed scaffolding, in favor of a less-ugly alternative. Can’t think of a ton of tricks on these things short of this and Jerry’s 5050 in Bag of Suck, but good riddance.

“I’m mainly happy that Tompkins is still there, it’s repaved, kids still go there, and it still has a similar vibe.” Slam City Skates has a pretty awesome longform interview with Sage Elsesser.

“Holllllyyyy shitttttt. Is that Jahmir? Yeah! And he’s making me listen to Bronze 56k Radio ALL DAY.” Jahmir Brown provides the guest mix on the latest installment of Bronze 56k Radio. The Graham Denver commercial is so fucking funny. 20 minute mark. Nooooo.

Yacht Rock on The Sesh

Nelly Morville en route to the throne of best web edits of 2025. The spirit of Foghornleghornn and the sensibilities of today, plus a Logan Lara tech god clip, as a treat. If these don’t want to maker you skate with your friends, you need new friends.

“It seemed like the normal thing to do would be to pick one of those, something from my childhood. I wanted to pick a newer video instead. This video is one that has a lot of the things that I love about skate videos. You know that they’re all friends, that they skate together, and that they really tried to make the best parts they could.” — Andrew Reynolds on John’ Vid + more from Slam City Skates’ “Offerings” series.

Added Session Skate Mag‘s “SKALI” video, filmed entirely at “Skalitzer Straße” in Berlin — a flatbar lover’s paradise — to the QS One-Spot part map 📍 (Plus belatedly added Paul Young’s “Summer Of Philly Step” video filmed entirely at the BP Step in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.) Five more parts until we are at 100 one-spot parts!

A Bad Ledge & A Plate of Salmon

Adjacency Bias, the Pacific-Northwest skate scene platform, has a new video series examining the opportunities / history created by un-used tennis courts that later become skate spots, called “The Courts.” The first episode is about Portland, Oregon’s court spot.

Nelly Morville made an iPhone edit of a Limo trip to Montreal + more. Fingers crossed Nelly’s YouTube page takes the [dormant] torch from Foghornleghorn for iPhone edits from this crew.

“Antonio Durao’s most recent challenge to skating’s understood limitations suggests a new frontier for the wallride grind, though probably one that requires a certain amount of extradimensional thinking.” Boil the Ocean pontificates on a Ben Colen photo of Antonio where he is smith grinding but also …wallriding 🧠

Summer Starts in August

Jack Sabback @ CBS, 20 years ago • 📷 via Matt Swift. Memory Screen had a fire #tbt post of Jack the other day, too.

The rumors are true, yes. We’re bringing The Quartersnacks Cup back this year, but with Vans. It’ll be more public. More info coming soon ;)

Shaquille Waite put together a thorough initial #tfreport of the re-done ground with his crew. It’s so …green! The fakie frontside flip over the bump-to-bar was nuts.

“Skaters who think they smoke a lot of weed have nothing on hockey players.” Una Farrar is the latest subject of Skate Jawn‘s “$100 Chill” series — except it’s about $120 Canadian! (Somehow, it’s actually like $135CAD…)
