Somehow, Wheelbite Feels Good In A Place Like This

📷 John Cardiel by Gabe Morford via Science Versus Life. 1998 btw.

Elisa Martini released her debut part for KCDC Skateshop via Skate Jawn. A fire noseslide, all New York clips, with some guest clips from the rest of the KCDC crew. Fantastic work.

Stephan Singh has a quick new montage of his crew. Really dope to see people still getting clips at Big Screen despite all odds.

“There’s a new emphasis on personality, and people want to know who the person is and the context of that person. It’s kind of funny, like we’re swinging really far into this abstract realm of not caring how good skaters are.” Jenkem has a great interview with QS-favorite, Zak Anders. Favorite skate interview in a minute.

Chapstick Season

The obstacle purge at T.F. West rebounded quick!

With Hollywood hobbled by the pandemic, Jawn Gardner came through with the life-affirming motion picture event that we needed as we head towards the holidays ♥

Zooted” is a New York video by Stephán Lewis with appearances from Brandon Scott, Jiro Platt, Yaje Popson and a bunch of other people you’ll recognize from skating around downtown.

The Village Psychic dudes spend the lockdown months creating Village Archive, an early stab at a Wikipedia or an IMDB of skateboard footwear. (Man, have skaters been responsible for designing some awful shoes.) Kinda inspired to think up some ideas similar to this one now…

The Switch Inward Heelflip You Never Knew You Needed & Other Happenings About Town

We began the decade by burning an impossible over a bench into memory — a trick that had, with a few exceptions, largely sat dormant for the better part of twenty years.

A couple kids got into doing pressure flips.

Then, for a minute there, the heelflip became the new kickflip varial flip.

Tallying every trick that had gone down at every gap became burdensome. The best real estate for a switch tre down D7 in 2015 was the part of a Johnny Wilson clip when the drums began to cut out of a Moodymann song. (Jk, that clip is one of the best things of the past decade. Switch tre is obvs beast too.)

Let It All Work Out

Via @keenanforeverfoundation

We did an end of the year inventory over at the warehouse, and turned up some loosies of things we had marked as sold out. Check the webstore in case you missed out on something from the last release. It’s not a restock, e.g. maybe we found quite literally two larges of a tee and threw them back online. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. Thank you everyone for all the support throughout the year.

“I think me doing all these other things outside of skating makes me like skating more.” Thrasher posted up Tyshawn’s interview from the last issue, and the full “BLESSED” article online. Still processing how Kadow’s Chinatown Banks lipslide ever worked out.

2018 Kiki mix and 2018 E.J. mix.

Boil the Ocean is still running down their annual Top 10 parts segment, and Cafe Creme offers up a #list for their 2018 “Gourmet Selection.” The final installment of our Year in Review will be live shortly ;)

Daniel Kim put together a Jason Byoun “Groer of the Underworld” remix.

Neil Herrick’s part in Fairman’s 4 really turns up a couple notches after Jordan Trahan’s (…right?) guest trick.

Mike Sass put up PFP5 online in its entirety.

We’ve discussed having to reach adulthood before truly ~getting~ Tom Penny before, but the Cult of Tom guy *got it* right away.

Despite talking shit about how nothing really went online video-wise last week, this Converse Brazil video has some wild clips in it. And while we’re at it, Tiago’s section from TWS’ Duets video is online too. Thx 4 the love bro ♥

Merry Jinxmas from Hijinx!

Paul Young uploaded a few minutes of circa 2015 Nick Ferro raw files.

New year, new Pace Ledge. Safe to say that the A.B.D. scroll has been refreshed.

Need a playlist with a sizable chunk of the Young Thug leaks from 2018? Yeah, you do. It’s insane some of these are sitting in purgatory compared to what gets released by the label. This playlist > the sum of his “official” 2018 output, and his “Let It All Work Out” is better than his dad’s ♥

#spotcheck?

Posted remotely in Copenhagen for the week, where it already fast-forwarded to everyone needing a hoody and jacket at night. Here are eighteen seconds of Hjalte warm-ups filmed a hundred feet from where this post is being typed.

Holy switch inward heelflip. Two minutes of largely unreleased Keenan footage.

America: Where seemingly sane “adults” argue about the placement of a trash can + yoga/skate hybrids and LurkNYC showing #OGRESPECT in volume eighteen of their always entertaining “New York Times” throwaways series.

Here’s a five-minute recap on the Keenan Forever skate jam at T.F. West last week.

Shout out to this mid-2000s B.A. footage that Joey Digital posted last week.

Sweet Sixteen” is a chill New York montage via Evan Pacheco and Harry Bergenfield.

The many frustrations of skating Allen Street, summed up in 43 seconds. Ugh.

Recently started a dedicated shoebox for all the zines scattered around my apartment. Pretty sure they’ll still be around when IG is covered in pixely cobwebs and every Snapchat story expires. Kingpin has a nice lil’ round-up of what’s popping in the zine scene, and Village Psychic interviewed the mind behind Boston’s Blessed mag.

#TRENDWATCH2016: Hoboken Skatepark? Mini ramps??? New iPhone clip from Genesis from Hoboken, Blue Park, and the new McCarren.

Boil the Ocean re: Tokyo 2020 hypnotizing chickens. QS is an Olympic rant free zone.

Bruns 1 icon, Nik Stain’s short-n-sweet Bruns 2 part is now online.

New York is the new Cali. An interview with Clem from Recordings of Boardings.

With skate premieres officially becoming an unwelcome cultural even at Sunshine theater this past spring, have we found the new capital of illicit beers and big-screen skate video screenings?! Omg. The SVA theater will be hosting the premiere of Colin Read’s new video this Saturday, which features parts from Quim Cardona, Vincent Touzery, Chris Jones, and rumor has it, DANIEL KIM footage. Jenkem did an interview about Colin’s purportedly last video as well.
