If you need some motivation to help you power through the week, Khaled has a new Breakfast Club interview. He’s been meditating, swimming, and is considering flying.

The two guys who skated from Boston to New York are skating somewhere far again.

It’s gotta be amazing to live in a place that closes down a legendary skate spot (that’s utilized by absolutely no one else), promises to build a skatepark in exchange, and somehow doesn’t completely fuck it up. That place has something like ~20% unemployment for people under 25 and also feels like a Groundhog’s Day-esque vortex after a while, but hey man, you can sk8.

Yo you know what’s really annoying about DVS tour videos? You see them and think, “Oh sick, I get to see Daewon skate outside of his typical SoCal comfort zone” — but then dude only has like 2-3 clips in the entire video. ANYWAY, The DVS team is pretty fun: Torey Pudwill took the Reres Award from whoever may have previously held it for the Milan grate this year, that fakie 5050-halfcab-5050-180 combo is wild, and Luis’ grind down the Le Dome hubba from the flat part (it’s over waist high) is insane.

This was the best video of 2014. Truly inspiring stuff. He really is the best:

It may be back to 25 degrees on Thursday, but at least it gets dark at 7!

When was the last time there was something as unanimously loved by skateboarders from all walks of life as Bobby Worrest’s all-Pulaski part? Has there even been a part predominantly (only?) filmed at a single plaza spot since Stevie in The Reason? Also, here’s Boil the Ocean theorizing on the correlation between the economic downturn and the ability for these sorts of parts to exist. Or something?

Probably listened to DJ Khaled’s McDonald’s commercials 40 times last week. Looks like these guys are equally big fans. (Are they better than Flex’s Western Beef commercials though?) “It’s a recession out there and I love food that’s only for $1!”

A lot of interviews went online this past week, and Frozen in Carbonite’s interview with Chris Franzen might be the best of the bunch. He talks about L.A. County (“We were just a bunch of rejects from the industry”), switch 360 flips over Cali tables off flat, and stuff about the business of skateboarding in the nineties that other interviews may be reluctant to address. Must-read for anyone who is a fan of that much mythologized decade.

The Artest era in New York was short, underwhelming, injury-ridden, and worst of all, a decade late, but to his credit, he did provide the team with possibly its sole highlight of the 2013-2014 season.
