Today marks exactly five years since the release of The Inspiration, which is the second most important motivational masterpiece to come out during this website’s existence (first here.) In honor of this sacred date, above is the limited edition 1-of-10 Quartersnacks x The Inspiration custom griptape sheet. On a side note, the mixtape prelude to this album, had some serious bangers that QS will happily cut a thousand-dollar check for, provided they are CDQ versions without DJ Drama yelling nonsense all over them. If only Jeezy still made music like this…

Apparently, the school/park has began removing the “real” ledges from 12th & A, and threw out all the portable obstacles. One less place to skate during the day without getting kicked out. Great. R.I.P. 12th & A.

The Flipmode production house released a short, purple-tinged b-sides clip featuring their standard roster. Kids seem to really like Spaceghostpurp and lean references these days, huh.

If you started skateboarding around the time Photosynthesis came out, you’ve maybe wondered what happened to Pat Corcoran. Well, he dropped by a recent Chrome Ball post dedicated to him, and set the record and rumor-mongering straight with a detailed, yet completely punctuation-less comment.

Skateboard filmers who take themselves serious enough to make memes about filmer faux pas are probably the worst thing about skateboarding. We mix SD & HD, stretch SD, and chop it up to Rihanna & 2 Chainz, all in one clip.

The crew over at Seasons Skateshop in Albany uploaded a clip from deep in the archive of some of our homies. Wonderful soundtrack choice, and the only place online you’re going to see Ben Baptiste do a kickflip backside tailslide.

Strobeck clips tend to get re-blogged heavy, but in case you missed it, a remix of some older ones from the mid-to-late 2000s went up on YouTube yesterday.

With 12th & A’s cloudy future decidedly taking a turn a turn for the better as the park opens back up today, New York skateboarders can focus their speculative nature on bigger and better things. Most importantly: when is Slickie Boy going to drop a freestyle to commemorate the park’s return over Meek Mill and Rick Ross’ summer 2011 “B.M.F.” equivalent?

The rails from the Girl demo are still there for all your feeble and smith grind needs. Do everyone a favor, and do not perform any illicit activities in the park (go to Tompkins for that) and pick up trash after yourselves. That is all it takes to keep this place open. Please refer to Billy Rohan’s Twitter account for any future 12th & A news.

The gate hasn’t been open since Monday, but East Village neighborhood blog, Evgrieve posted pictures of some signs that the school put on the fence. In other words, it might not be the best idea to hop the fence, just as a precaution. (Cali style fool!) Maybe they want to channel the NBA lockout. Who knows. Blame the kids. A few idiots always have to ruin it for everybody.

Billy said he’s “not sure if it’s permanent.”

P.S. Please keep speculation and hearsay out of the comments, just so some moron Googling around doesn’t stumble upon it, and turn it into a case for shutting down the park so he could turn it into a condominium with a frozen yogurt spot at the ground floor.

Congratulations to the Dallas Mavericks. Real psyched for Dirk, the 38-year-old Jason Kidd (THERE’S STILL HOPE STEVE NASH — ASK FOR A TRADE!), Jim Carrey, Jet, Matrix, Deshawn “Abraham Lincoln neck tat” Stevenson, TYSON CHANDLER, Miss Universe 2006’s boo, and Corey Brewer, WHO GOT WAIVED FROM THE KNICKS only to become an NBA champion three months later (legitimate contribution or not.) Mooney had a whole Texas kit last night, right down to the Pimp C shrimp cocktail homage. All in all, it was a great NBA season.

In other big news, Leo Gutman is making a comeback. Taji put together a three-minute clip of him skating around downtown, wreaking havoc on skate spots, retail establishments, and unmarked police vehicles. That metal Leonard Street ledge is the high, 2011 version of 11th and Wythe (R.I.P.)

Brian Kelley has an interview with E.J. up on his site, tackling topics like art, the East Village, Tompkins, and a preposterous assertion that Two Boots has the best slice in the city. There’s a no discussion as to how he intends to compete with Chris Brown though.

E.J. also recently sent over this weird 12th & A clip with the colors inverted. If you’re looking for something with no color effects, his Vimeo page revealed an old montage from 2008. Frontside ollie over the 12-stair double rail in front of Chase was real sick.

Galen Dekemper may not be here throughout the summer, but he put together a sixteen-minute clip with stuff off his Flip cam to hold everyone over. Includes footage of what may be the brightest Waka Flocka concert ever conducted. “It was at 7 P.M. in a convention center.” Mooney also put together an iPhone clip a real random song selection. Which brings us to our next point…

If Apple leaves portrait recording mode ON iOS 5, THEY HAVE FAILED AS A COMPANY. Get that shit out of here. Portrait mode should be called “WorldStar Mode” at this point.

So, Waka Flocka released a video for “Lil’ Debbie.” The video and the song are disappointing from the perspective of this website, because the visuals / lyrics do little to live up to the title. In fact, the only mention of the snack cakes that the site is named after is “I get stupid cake, you can call me Lil’ Debbie.” One can only hope that a Lil’ Debbie diamond chain will eventually surface alongside the Fozzie bear one.

With all due respect to Brandon Westgate, this website’s favorite skater with a proficiency for skating up things that go down and absurdly high obstacles is Luis Tolentino. Pause right before the pop on the last 5050, just to ballpark how high the ledge probably is.

Did you know there is a decent sidewalk bump across the street from 12th & A? (Technically on the 11th Street side.) Billy and Shawn Powers knew. They did some ninja stuff over it.

The black marble banks on 48th Street & Park Avenue (or what remained of them) are completely gone as of this weekend. Someone tell the city to give companies tax write-offs for donating marble to 12th & A instead of just hucking it into a dumpster.

Attention all broke skaters: Gray’s Papaya now serves dollar slices. Not only did they price themselves out of the “Broke Skater Diet” bracket once the “Recession Special” slowly rose from $2.45 to $5.00, but they sold out by offering pizza slices cheaper than their hot dog specialties. If the mafia controls cheese prices, thus contributing to the rise in cost of pizza, does it control the hot dog market too? Or do they just melt Polly-O string cheese on dollar slices, and circumvent the mafia entirely?

Not really sure if the Fish is still “relevant” in skateboarding, but the NYPD shut it down for “illegal sale of alcoholic beverages.” (That probably means it was open after 4 A.M.) Naturally, people started a petition to get it open again.
