Travel Tip: An Airbnb for seven dudes with one bathroom in Mexico is a bad idea.

Contrary to Instagram reports over the past week-and-a-half, the Banks are not *technically* open. A full section of the fence was down, and the DOT security booths were gone, but that section has since been put back up. Cops are still kicking people out (no tickets…yet), and claiming the space will soon re-open (also remember it was only supposed to be closed off until 2014, so, you know…) TWS caught up with R.B. Umali for a full status report, and a bit of new footage.

Who would have thought that one of QS’ highest affinities for a non-New York skate crew would be out in Italy? Always get a lil’ smile out of “Summer Trip to New York” edits that put the effort into skating midtown and SoHo, which seem to be antiquated routes in the L.E.S. + outer-borough dominant mindset of the past several years. The New York section in “Double Egg & Cheese” (begins at the 7 minute mark) is a fun watch.

They’re building a new skatepark at Van Courtlandt Park on 240th and Broadway. Also, it looks like they’re starting construction on the skatepark at Thomas Jefferson Park in East Harlem, with a projected March 2018 completion date.

The largest tall tee Wade Desarmo ever wore was a 5XL. That and an examination of why so few objectively superior skateboarders make it out of Canada in his interview with a competing podcast. Even if you’re not a “Nine Club” guy, this one was great.

As far as our *favorite* skate podcast goes (and the one Wade is currently M.I.A. from because nobody is “in the streets” in Toronto…), The Bunt’s latest is with Stefan Janoski. Always felt in the minority of preferring his Inhabitants part over Mosaic, but good to to know it’s his fave too ;)

Enjoyed this piece on why the death of DVD will haunt consumers. Skateboarding has the benefit of skate shops preserving community — unlike film, which lost its cultural hubs with the death of video stores (R.I.P. Kim’s) — which is all the more of a reminder to give your shop some money today.

Technically it’s the *second* post of the year after the online DANY video premiere (YouTube link here btw), but let’s not screw tradition up yaknow :)

As always, let’s get anything pertinent to the last year out of the way: 1) Tiago, Hjalte and Jerry Hsu round out the top three of Boil the Ocean’s ten best of 2016 countdown. 2) Better Skate Than Never is always good for a round-up of largely independent web clips that stood out. Their top 30 of 2016 is a nice reminder to rewatch Hjalte’s Jonas Skrøder part. 3) Ripped Laces runs down the best skate shoes of last year.

“36 Stair Ollie” is the new ~moody~ clip from the Marbio Worldwide crew out in L.I.

The Bunt is really coming through with the heavy-hitters this year. Episode two of the new season is with new Anti-Hero rider, Brian Anderson, who has apparently been skating Anti-Hero boards with stickers over the graphic since the Yeah Right! days.

Brunch is a fun new full-length out of Montreal (pretty sure…) with a good bit of New York footage. A lot of familiar faces and an E.T. cameo :)

Hardies threw an unannounced best trick contest at the L.E.S. Park a few weeks ago.
