Happy New Year to everyone. Late start to 2016. Still coming to terms with this “oh right, this is what winter is supposed to feel like”-feeling. Keep it positive this year and have a good one. Stay warm :)

Let’s start off 2016 by still talking a bit about 2015… Some year-end lists that point you in the direction of parts and videos that you might not have caught. 1) Better Skate Than Never listed the top thirty videos / promos of 2015, with a primary focus on independent ventures e.g. Bleach is #1. 2) Café Creme blog with a gourmet selection of 2015’s ten best. 3) Boil the Ocean already had a detailed post-by-post top ten countdown, and offered some bonus suggestions.

Always fun to see what’s going on uptown. A new one from the Mira Conyo squad.

Kids worship is basically the skateboard/downtown-equivalent of rappers’ Scarface worship at this point, but still got a kick out of these unseen behind-the-scenes polaroids from it + interview via the film’s costume designer. Aanndd Washington Square is a full central spot again. Shit goes in circles bro.

Village Psychic theorizes that scenes with harsh winters produce the best videos.

Free Skate Mag has another Lucas Puig Instagram remix, edited to that Young Thug song that everyone really tried to make happen #in #da #club at the start of the summer but already forgot about. Works great for the vid though.

The “Summer Trip to New York” edits are finally starting to roll in! As is the DS2 music supervision! Thought it was a drought! D.C’s Palace 5ive rolled up to New York for a bit and came back with a five-minute VX montage.

Dylan Goldberger / James has a new part out for Coda Skateboards. Is that part he had in the Prizefighter video two years ago still online? Can’t find it anywhere.

The Tumblrverse scanned Big Brother’s 1999 article about fashion and skateboarding, which explains the origin of the Bob shirt, among other things. To all you other skateboard media institutions: Dibs on a 2014 remake.

The Spectacle Theater (S 3rd Street in Williamsburg) will be playing Memory Screen on June 10th at 8 P.M. Chris Carter and Duane Pitre will be in attendance, and will hold a Q & A after the video.

This is what came of the Murray Hill spot mentioned in a post from a few weeks ago.

They’re making a documentary about Kids. On one hand, you’d like to wish that everyone would stop mining one of the most easily mineable relics of nineties nostalgia and focus elsewhere (Huf Epicly Later’d!), but on the other hand, last year’s Narratively article about the making of the film was better than the movie itself. A 90-minute version of that would probably be awesome.

New York is still sketchy if you look hard enough.

Did anyone actually root for the Brooklyn Nets this season? Did Hov only do that so hopefully you won’t have to go through that?

This article about the making of Kids and what happened to the cast since 1995 by Caroline Rothstein is better than the movie itself. It mainly focuses on Harold Hunter and Justin Pierce, but manages to catch up with just about everyone with any sort of role in the film. An absolute must-read for any nineties east coast skate nerd.

Mic-E Reyes talks about punching people and getting punched during his Deluxe team manager days in a new interview with Chris Nieratko.

NY Skateboarding checks out the new street-based skatepark in Woodhaven, Queens. It’s so street that they even knobbed the lip of the brick bank!

“Skate & Stuff” is a new 23-minute, New York-based video by William Shum with cool spots, lines in trench coats, and Sergio Leone movie cut-ins.

This dude Conor Holliday 5050s up the entire handicap ramp ledge at the Jersey City Post Office, among other things in a new part, and Josh Wilson skates NJ crust in a Justin White-ish edit.

As expected, Boil the Ocean weighs in on the sponsor resignation of the century, in addition to living a post-Pretty Sweet existence, Greco’s new part, and of course, Mark Suciu. “Is Mark Suciu actually a 40-year-old bro who had been quietly filming in various towns under assumed names over the past 15 years, and is the steady release of footage a sign that he may have died sometime early last year, leaving the executors of his estate to periodically drizzle out tapes to sponsors in a Tupac-like series of posthumous releases?”

To remind us of simpler times, we upgraded the quality on the 2009 Mind Field re-edit.
