Is there a compilation of board flip challenge fails yet, or are we going to have to assign that grueling job to an intern?

Looks like the solid barrage of upstate New York videos is gonna keep rolling in 2019 (see #5.) The Seasons guys have a new ten-minute video on Thrasher entitled “Albany 2.5” with tons of Empire State Plaza footage, and a mini S.F. section at the end.

Wasn’t really sure what to expect from this upon click, and it thankfully ended up being smiles the whole way through ♥ Here’s a good seven minutes of Fred Gall iPhone footage at some D.I.Y. spot and a bunch of typical New Jersey crust.

Had a bunch of “wait, that spot’s been gone for years” thoughts watching this, and then realized it’s more of a remix than a new part. Either way! Any B.A. is good B.A., and Grant Yansura was nice enough to pull together a bunch of his [mainly New York] footage from SB Chronicles 3 and onward for a new-old “Slappy Seconds” edit, which includes a handful of unseen clips.

Theories is doing another “Underground Skater of the Year” thing this year, and we’re writing in a ballot for Jawn Gardner.

“Oh, you were just skateboarding? That’s weird. You can leave.” Solo has an interview with John Shanahan, and Skate Jawn has a lil’ feature on his photos.

Haven’t had a chance to listen yet, but Tim O’Connor posted up an unreleased episode of his podcast with Ricky Oyola, and Steve Brandi has a “Skater’s Favorite Skater” TWS vid where he talks about how Ricky influenced him over the years.

Not a lot of content like this going live on the skateboard internet in the age of Instagram Stories: the Village Psychic dudes drove from Minnesota to Memphis to escape the cold and did a long[ish]form blog post with photos about their journey.

Instead of rumor mongering, Village Psychic got on their responsible journalist shit and found out the truth behind the hearsay re: Tiago getting banned from the U.S.

Not sure what Soup Skateboards is, but their new promo has Jason Spivey footage + it’s always a pleasure to see footage of the childhood-favorite Zipper Ledge (across from the grate ledge on 114th and Morningside), which has been under scaffolding for a century.

We had to call an emergency office meeting on Sunday to debate whether or not we could, in clear conscience, link a video that has a 360 shove it front smith body varial out in it. Talks were held, feelings were hurt, norms obstructed, but after hours of deliberation and taking into account the slow news week behind us (plus the really sick FedEx line), the link passed along party lines. Sebo Walker has an “8 Days in New York” part up on Thrasher where he skates some of the city’s standard tourist traps.

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: The Sports Desk is a stubborn place. It wasn’t until the 2016 Finals and The Greatest Sports Game of All-Time that we realized, yeah, we gotta stop with our silly Lebron freeze. Enough is enough. But we still can’t bring ourselves to give James Harden a play of the week because of all the excruciating final five minutes of NBA games he has robbed from our lives. The good news is we finally switched over to a circa 2018 design that’s mobile compatible, etc. Hopefully it’s not a Crailtap-getting-rid-of-the-iframes shock to the system, because let’s be honest: it basically looks the same, just moderne. We purged a couple spots that have been gone long enough for people to forget about, cleaned up some shit around the pages, etc. If anything seems to not be working properly, feel free to drop us a line.

The bad news is we are still amidst the same general skate internet content slump we have been experiencing all month. Nearly nothing happened last week…

On the off chance that you didn’t catch it, Jawn Gardner continues his streak of being one of the most contagiously good vibed skaters to watch in 2018, via his DC Streetsweeper raw files. That A/C contraption he made is nuts…

Gunes’ new FTC part is up there with John’s raw files as what got ran back the most at the office last week. Shout out to everyone who looks like they’re having fun while being really good at skateboarding.

Don’t know much about this one, but “Long Shots & Low Odds” is a ~moody~ seven-minute New York video from Canon Hastings featuring all your New York 2018 dietary staples (wallies, .T.F., a pit stop at the Grand Street courts) + a stubborn commitment to skating those red double cellar doors next to Motorino.

There’s a New York section at the ~8:45 mark of this Chicago video entitled Postcard.

Supreme took over the front page of the Post today.

Idk why it felt like Brandon Westgate “left,” but he’s “back.”

Thrasher also uploaded the Streetsweeper raw files from snow ramp architect, John Shanahan. The Battery Park Subway roof arrest bit is still left without context, but maybe everyone be careful if you’re going to climb up on top of that thing?

When I was getting into deep underground hip-hop growing up, the only other kids listening to it were skaters. Like, you guys know Hieroglyphics? Why? ‘Oh, it was on the blah blah blah VHS.'” This link actually has nothing to do with skating, but is an insightful conversation on how people consume music (particularly rap) in 2018, and a reminder that it’s ok to not have an opinion on some stuff!

Getting There, Getting There, Getting There…

This is perhaps the *SECOND* (!) time in this skateboard media enterprise’s modern history that there has been THREE :( Monday Links post to hold the five slots on the homepage. We’re working our way out of this slow news cycle + backend work and should be good to roll with more than two continuous updates to share with you by this time next week. (Hopefully! …but actually!) O.J. has a cruiser clip with the actual best skater, Jawn Gardner.

Frog collaborated with Noah on a run of printables, and made this six-minute clip fetauring Jesse Alba, Chris Millic, office favorite Krazy Frankie, and Pat Gallaher, with spiritual guidance from self-help guru, Jason Byoun.

“Oh yeah, I remember what that comment said actually. It was like, ‘My 5 year old cousin could make this on Microsoft Paint.’ Do you actually use Microsoft Paint?” Noah also has an interview with Chris about the history of the always-triggering Frog factory.

The Canal crew has a new edit filmed exclusively at the Grand Street basketball courts (I guess we’ve all just been forced to come to terms with that spot to the point of it being an acceptable place to spend an entire day, huh?), and an interview about their brand over on the Office mag site.

…aanndd the latest round of Elkin raw tapes has footage from the spot before its colorful make-over, and good God did it look way more depressing five years ago.

Free has somewhat of an interview / feature about how they came to “get” Sean Pablo, plus The Shady One™ filmed a bit of a “Day in the Life” montage with him on the occasion of his Cons colorway. Shout out to meeting at T.F. West, skating over the Williamsburg Bridge, only to skate back to regular T.F.

“Cleardata” is a twelve-minute video that offers a glimpse into what post-apocalyptic Philadelphia skateboarding looks like in 2018.

This one of a bunch of upstate N.Y. dudes doing some non-obvious Paris spots earned a couple rewatches. Always nice when a trip video feels like something more than just a mere footage dump.

E.J. told me Antwerp was his favorite city at one point in time. The #RC-enthusiast POP Trading boys made it a point to film their entire new fall launch montage there.

LurkNYC posted eight minutes of raw John Shanahan footage. Does anyone remember which part he skates off the rock and over the wooden bench a few hundred feet south of Three Up Three Down? Can’t find the footage.

The Theories site is posting listicles now ;) Following the news about Muni being renovated next year, they ran down five of the lesser known plaza spots in the U.S.

File the new Sour Instagram remix / full-length video as one of those unifying moments that got brought up by skateboarders from all walks of life this past weekend.
