We Ain’t Dropped A Clip In A Long Time — End of Summer 2018 Montage!

Once upon a time, we went years without breaking the annual tradition of End of Summer clips posted right before each Labor Day Weekend.

Then, we were lead astray. To give you some context, the last time we posted one, it was to a Rich Homie Quan song in 2015, and not long after, he devastatingly walked out of our lives never to be heard from again.

Some might say we were too busy indulging in the finer things life has to offer at the expense of time spent on a skateboard. Others blame Instagram for cannibalizing the footage economy, i.e. how often do you see a run of the mill city montage getting uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo these days that isn’t a longform project promoting something or a trip clip? Like, who makes clips over sixty seconds just for the sake of it anymore?

…we do! At least we’re trying to again! Because montages are fun! You get to use more than sixty seconds of a song you like! You don’t have to hoard footage for twelve months waiting for everyone to get their parts together! It’s way more fun than uploading shit to an IG story and getting a bunch of praying hands emojis in your DMs! Montages have vibes! Montages are memories! Montages are beautiful!

Following the start of this year’s summer solstice — amidst the build-out of this snazzy new redesign — we made a resolution to start bringing the #RealCamera™ out all the time. Also, we were still reeling for the devastating loss of Final Cut 7; we had to get with the times and figure out how the hell to use Premiere. August was hindered by a bit of a nagging health issue, but as a bonus, we mixed in the footage from the two-and-a-half days we spent in Prague because there were never any concrete plans for it. (So, it’s basically a July 2018 montage.)

We’d like to extend a special individual thank you to Antonio Durao for keeping everyone hyped this summer, because without him, there’s no way this clip would exist. (You’ll see.) Contributing filmers: Jesse Alba & Emilio Cuilan.

Features Antonio Durao, Daniel Kim, John Francomacaro, Conor Prunty, Connor Kammerer, Chris Milic, Brian Brown, Myles Gable, Hjalte Halberg, Ruben Spelta, Anton Juul.

Who knows, maybe we get real wild and drop a Christmas clip this year too ♥

Better Late Than Never: End of Summer 2015 Montage

end of summer 2015

We made it! Just one day shy of October — when it becomes truly embarrassing to post an “End of Summer” edit. Not that we haven’t been late on the Labor Day deadline or entirely missed an End of Summer clip before (obviously in 2009, the year multiple viewers of the ten-year clip pointed out as the turning point for when the party became a crucial part of QS office culture), but it’d be too sad to enter autumn without bidding da summa farewell.

In our defense, these past four months had multiple extracurricular video projects: “56 Tricks,” “Core” (some of the better iPhone angles from it made their way into this one), the all-too-important TM101 anniversary clip, and obviously the ten-year edit.

Features Matt Perez [finally] graduating high school, Antonio Durao, Johnny Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Hjalte Halberg, Andre Page, Chandy Khon, Cyrus Bennett, Alexander Mosley, Jesse Alba, Daniel Kim, Will Robson-Scott, Jack Sabback, Brendan Carroll, Mike Gigliotti, C.J, Genesis Evans, Troy Stilwell, Tober, and a mini Connor Champion part. Contributing filmers: Andre Page & John Diaz.

End of the Summer / Labor Day Weekend 2014 Clip

When I die, bury me inside the Gucci store…but like actually.

It’s that time of year again. This one is a little different because it includes a quick Euro interlude from our time in Paris and Copenhagen this summer. Thanks to everyone who looked out while we were out there: Rich Homie Juan, Frey Dogg, Hjalte (I lost your line for some unknown reason, sorry, I’m an idiot), etc. Enjoy your long weekend and start planning those outfits for NYFW14!

Features Alexander Mosley, Connor Champion, Kadeem Walters, Ty Lyons, Tyler Tufty, Josh Velez, Michael Gigliotti, Matthew Perez, Jon Diaz, Haffa, Jack Sabback, Antonio Durao, Pryce Holmes, Torey Goodall, Danny Brady, Frey Dogg, Pad Dowd, Andre Page, Emilio Cuilan, Rich Homie Juan, Rory Milanes, Kevin Tierney, Uptown Eddie, Chris Haslam’s ex-girlfriend.

Contributing filmers: Andre Page, Richard Quintero, Josh Velez.

We *would* include an alternate YouTube link, but apparently they started disabling audio on account of music rights again? Sick! Glad you record labels are keeping your business models current!

Oh, and in the interest of full disclosure, this entire clip would be edited to “You the World” if only it had come out a week before. Unfortunately, it came out on Wednesday, and the clip was already halfway done at that point :(

Don’t Look Like That: End of Summer 2013

dre roof 360 flip

We’re three weeks past our Labor Day deadline for End of Summer clips, Dre is back to wearing colors besides white, and we’ve been experiencing some 50-degree mornings, so this is more like a Start of Fall clip.

The past summer was weird. Our research of recent visitor trends revealed a massive increase of Brooklyn readers, so we were advised to up the wallie and wallride count in this video by a whopping 80%. In fact, Josh Velez took it upon himself to enter the wallie arc of his career some seven years earlier than he initially anticipated to remedy this disconnect between the site’s content and its readers/viewers. Also, there are an inordinate amount of Jersey Shore spots in this clip to add to the weirdness.

Features Zered Bassett, Atlanta Shane, Haffa, Galen Dekemper, John Diaz, Ron Deily, Josh Velez, Pryce Holmes, Elijah Cole, Lui Elliot, Kadeem Walters, Ritch Homie Swain, Torey Goodall, Shawn Powers, Andre Page, Matthew Perez, Lurker Lou, Brendan Carroll, Tyler Tufty, Quim Cardona, Gavin Nolan, Paul Tucci, and Alexander Mosley.

Have a good weekend.

Ain’t No Way Around It: End of Summer / Labor Day Weekend 2012 Video

Didn’t June start like four days ago? Hard to remember what even happened this past summer, short of the same conversation over and over about the new L.E.S Park (“There’s mad bikers,” “It’s good when it’s early,” “Nah, but it’s good at night,” “At least 12th & A is empty now,” etc.) There had to have been some other noteworthy summer developments, but we don’t remember them. Most of the songs that “defined” this summer sucked (2 Chainz had a good eight or ten month run, but it’s obviously over), so we went with two good ones from last summer.

Features Emilio Cuilan, Ty Lyons, Galen Dekemper, Tyler Tufty, Haffa, Alexander, Mosley, Sweet Waste, Conor Fay, Jahmal Williams, Jordan Trahan, Kadeem, Elijah Cole, Scott Schwartz (!!!), Brendan Carroll, Andre Page, Josh Velez and Ben Nazario. Contributing filmers: Andre Page, Emilio Cuilan, Goshi Goto, Josh Velez. Most of the filming is still horrendous, as usual.

Have a good holiday weekend.
