Getting There, Getting There, Getting There…

This is perhaps the *SECOND* (!) time in this skateboard media enterprise’s modern history that there has been THREE :( Monday Links post to hold the five slots on the homepage. We’re working our way out of this slow news cycle + backend work and should be good to roll with more than two continuous updates to share with you by this time next week. (Hopefully! …but actually!) In the meantime, please enjoy the above image of Justin Henry and Dustin Henry. Photo by Zach Sheats.

O.J. has a cruiser clip with the actual best skater, Jawn Gardner.

Frog collaborated with Noah on a run of printables, and made this six-minute clip fetauring Jesse Alba, Chris Millic, office favorite Krazy Frankie, and Pat Gallaher, with spiritual guidance from self-help guru, Jason Byoun.

“Oh yeah, I remember what that comment said actually. It was like, ‘My 5 year old cousin could make this on Microsoft Paint.’ Do you actually use Microsoft Paint?” Noah also has an interview with Chris about the history of the always-triggering Frog factory.

The Canal crew has a new edit filmed exclusively at the Grand Street basketball courts (I guess we’ve all just been forced to come to terms with that spot to the point of it being an acceptable place to spend an entire day, huh?), and an interview about their brand over on the Office mag site.

…aanndd the latest round of Elkin raw tapes has footage from the spot before its colorful make-over, and good God did it look way more depressing five years ago.

Free has somewhat of an interview / feature about how they came to “get” Sean Pablo, plus The Shady One™ filmed a bit of a “Day in the Life” montage with him on the occasion of his Cons colorway. Shout out to meeting at T.F. West, skating over the Williamsburg Bridge, only to skate back to regular T.F.

Cleardata” is a twelve-minute video that offers a glimpse into what post-apocalyptic Philadelphia skateboarding looks like in 2018.

This one of a bunch of upstate N.Y. dudes doing some non-obvious Paris spots earned a couple rewatches. Always nice when a trip video feels like something more than just a mere footage dump.

E.J. told me Antwerp was his favorite city at one point in time. The #RC-enthusiast POP Trading boys made it a point to film their entire new fall launch montage there.

Under a minute of Alltimers good vibrations via Dana Ericson ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, Chinatown Manny is definitely back in everyone’s rotation

Never need an excuse to post this guy’s music, but Max always somehow sounds better when the weather is like this.

Frog Skateboards, Stingwater, Heineken & Hjalte Halberg Present — Came to Paris For Nothing

After millions of dollars spent on airfare and accommodations, nearly a full day of traveling over sea and land, and much meticulous planning that it takes to get dozens of boys across the Atlantic, we were in Paris asking the immortal question that guides our lives: “Where are we gonna skate today?”

About 70% of the way through the trip, Nolan revealed that the only reason he swam to Paris (he’s not a big fan of planes) was for the purpose of skating the famous colored manual pad spot seen in a myriad of skate videos growing up. Much to his dismay, when those “where are we gonna skate today?”-convos were taking place and the spot would get mentioned, the proceeding thoughts were familiar…

“I think that’s still under scaffolding?”

“Are there other spots around there?”

“It’s not as good as it looks in videos.”

“We gotta take a train to get there…I kinda wanted to push around today.”

See, it doesn’t matter where you are, or how many new spots you haven’t grown bored of skating you’re surrounded by. The struggle is real no matter where you go. The only difference is you might not be able to kick it with Sophie that day.

Watch below to see if we made it, or if we did in fact, come to Paris for nothing.

YouTube blocked the video is Canada on account of the fire George Michael song. Canadians!!! Here is a Vimeo link.

Edited by Hjalte Halberg. Features Keith Denley, Kadeem Walters, Nolan Benfield, Daniel Kim, Jesse Alba, Chris Milic, Hjalte Halberg, Andrew Wilson, and Zach Baker.

“You Americans are too serious about the pro board shit, in Europe you just turn the homie pro. Fuck it! It’s not about being ‘pro’ at skating. If you are a sick character, you should be pro!” Chris Milic and Jesse Alba interview Hjalte Halberg for Solo mag, with a resulting transcript that you can read in everyone’s voice inside your head.

Wise words: “Bro, you just skate and put it on the internet.” — Genesis Evans, who practices what he preaches considering he uploaded a a clip of his L.A. trip to the new Sahbabii song within like…24 hours of it being released.

Thrasher has Nick Ferro and Mark Humienik’s Calzone part, YouTube has Mark Wetzel’s Calzone part, and Big Cartel has Calzone DVDs.

One of the most astute eyes for spots out there. Chris Jones’ new part for Free is obviously great. And P.S. Casper Brooker went pro this past weekend. Congrats G.

Mostly park footage, but still heavy on the smiles: Louie Lopez IG remix to some Sade.

If you want to get bummed out, Vice did an article on how the city of Seattle is suing 35th North (the city’s longest standing skate shop) over a D.I.Y. bowl they built in the middle of the woods. Never not saying shout out to Europe in situations like these.

New Jerry Mraz footage in the promo for a new board company called Adult Inc. Guessing there’s ledges at the top of that L.I.E. hill from the old Bronze videos now?

Strobeck has an over two-hour interview with The Nine Club.

Chapter six of Elkin raw tapes is now live.

Dude I don’t even know how many years ago 2017 was, but apparently the Theories guys still want to talk about the best videos from that weird ass year. It’s dope that one of their fave videos was “Theories in Chicago” ;) ♥ My fave was Josh’s Inkwell part.

North interviewed skate photo collage god and frequent Quartersnacks contributor, Requiem For A Screen, in their latest issue, and just published the piece online.

That Sixth Sense era raw footage clip that everyone was re-posting last week actually got uploaded in 2011, but gave us a good excuse to fix a typo in an old post!

The cultural institution known as the Delancey McDonald’s finally reopens today!

Hjalte Halberg For Frog Skateboards!

[A.K.A. The third post in which we try to squeeze water out of a rock by making it about The Triangle™ because this clip has the last footage ever filmed on it.]

Faced with the truth that Pontus Alv is in great cardiovascular health, Hjalte Halberg did the next best thing to sending Frog his coveted sponsor-me tape: he endorsed a Frog guest board. And so, in an age where prominent leadership positions in the free world start out as jokes, we begin a fruitful journey by which Frog gradually absorbs the Danish athlete and 2014 Q.S.S.O.T.Y. Max Palmer into its official roster.

The clip of Hjalte’s New York trip is the only thing Pryce was looking forward to more than Swaecation. Filmed during the most productive two weeks of autumn 2k17. Can’t wait for Franco’s pro board. Guest tricks from Max Palmer, Aaron Loreth, Andrew Wilson, Genny, Vert God, Franco, Jawn Gardner, etc.

Edited by Jason Byoun. Board and new stuff available over on the Frog site.

Chris Milic & Jesse Alba for Frog Skateboards

chris

A lot has changed in the seven years since eventual misspelled Zero pro Forrest Edwards’s proclamations of the guys being “kind of weird” gripped the nation. Among those purported “weirds,” was one, Chris “Mango” Milic, who would go on to become the creative director of skateboarding’s eminent MS Paint-inspired skateboard empire.

Frog dropped a promo to coincide with a new range of Paint-tinged garms and boards. Features Chris lamenting his childhood dreams of being a pro dirt biker, Jesse footage from the Bowl Cut Era™, and a cameo from a prominent Humble Dane in Paris.
