Better Late Than Never: End of Summer 2015 Montage

end of summer 2015

We made it! Just one day shy of October — when it becomes truly embarrassing to post an “End of Summer” edit. Not that we haven’t been late on the Labor Day deadline or entirely missed an End of Summer clip before (obviously in 2009, the year multiple viewers of the ten-year clip pointed out as the turning point for when the party became a crucial part of QS office culture), but it’d be too sad to enter autumn without bidding da summa farewell.

In our defense, these past four months had multiple extracurricular video projects: “56 Tricks,” “Core” (some of the better iPhone angles from it made their way into this one), the all-too-important TM101 anniversary clip, and obviously the ten-year edit.

Features Matt Perez [finally] graduating high school, Antonio Durao, Johnny Wilson, Andrew Wilson, Hjalte Halberg, Andre Page, Chandy Khon, Cyrus Bennett, Alexander Mosley, Jesse Alba, Daniel Kim, Will Robson-Scott, Jack Sabback, Brendan Carroll, Mike Gigliotti, C.J, Genesis Evans, Troy Stilwell, Tober, and a mini Connor Champion part. Contributing filmers: Andre Page & John Diaz.

The Winter That Was / Still Is

winter 2015

Haven’t done a “winter” clip since 2011, but maybe the coldest January-February-March of our lifetime deserves a revival of this non-tradition. (FYI: It’s going back down to thirty-degree temperatures on Saturday.)

Below are the few days that were spent skating in this cold season. It is obvs edited to a song off the album that kept the Quartersnacks office from joining hands and jumping out of our thirty-eighth floor window after reviewing any given ten-day forecast from this past winter. StremmLife is a happy rap classic — and we just trying to have fun yo. (Free idea: Since it’s break-up season and all…if your girl breaks up with you right before all your hot new footage drops, you should def retweak the part to “This Could Be Us” A.K.A. the Rae Sremmurd Blackalicious song.)

Winter in Spain

banks

[Three weeks ago]
I got a ticket to Barcelona for just under $800. I’m going for 10 days. You wanna roll?
Nah man, I got a bunch of work to do, I should probably chill.

In hindsight, I’m an idiot.

There’s this misguided idea in skateboarding that “Barcelona is blown out.” Fran Molina eradicated any relevance there was to be found in filming at MACBA, Para-lel is gone, and GX skated the short side of Universitat. The end.

In skimming through the SD cards that came back from the trip I turned down, I realized that the perception of Barcelona as a place with nothing to skate beyond what you saw in the DC Video ten years ago is, uh, rather moronic. These guys went to two of the spots that we went to in our two weeks out there in 2011. There are endless bank spots, half of which you’ve never seen in a proper skate video before, i.e. Barcelona’s version of the shitty ledge spot in deep Brooklyn that all the locals avoid venturing out to is some insane, out-of-the-way marble bank. Plus, all those spots are empty at this time of year (notice the lack of any humans in the background of all these clips.) Who really goes to Barcelona in mid-February, you know?

Features Zeb Weisman and Jonah Miller. Filmed by Andre Page while you were walking to the bar in zero-degree weather listening to “Trap Queen” on your phone.

Did You Skate During the Blizzard?

dre snow day

“No, but I know someone who did.”

We’ve been really good at wasting full set-ups lately

Not much here besides video evidence of the fact that Andre Page went skateboarding during Monday night’s blizzard (which, for people who don’t live around here, was projected to dump two feet of snow on the city.) And there’s no doubt in my mind that there would be more footage if the city didn’t threaten to possibly arrest people for being on the roads after 11 P.M.

Features Andre Page, Matt Perez and John Diaz. Filmed by John Diaz.

Have a good weekend. It’s supposed to be ten below zero with windchill ;)
