#QSTOP10 — August 30, 2024

We have a local D.C. video, a local New York video, and a local Buneos Aires video this week.

And having been present for a piece or two of IRL Antonio magic in the past, I was compelled to ask, “Was he actually trying that line, or was he just fucking around and seeing what happens?” The answer was, “No, he was trying it, but it was second try.” We’ve seen Antonio channel a kaleidoscope of goats in his own journey of becoming the goat, but this one had tinges of Stevie’s cruise-y line choreography in The Reason in 1999, but in 2024.

We aren’t doing a Labor Day weekend sale, but we’ll give you free shipping on all U.S. orders on our webstore through the long weekend 🆓🆓🆓 :)

QS will be off for the holiday on Monday, and return on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Boston Report — Milan Solonenko’s ‘Dimlight’ Video

Dimlight” is a new crew edit by Milan Solonenko and the new generation coming up out of the New England scene that gyrates around Orchard Skateshop. It includes an opening and closing by Jojo and Eddie Vargas Jr. respectively, two perennial QS-favorites who genuinely skate like they were plucked out of the friends montage in Mouse.

Boston is a city well-known for its ledges, technical ledge , and the close-up fisheyes that follow them around Eggs and Financial. Milan & co. seem a bit more interested in cuttier terrain throughout the city (and neighboring cities), with only one Eggs clip and not a Deathlens to be found — though it kinda seems like the QS newsroom’s default position is to be shocked anytime there’s a new Boston video with no Eggs footage in it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hardbody’s ‘OD’ Video Is Now Live

A lot of people seemed to have been expecting a Big Brand Video™. After all, this is a company that announced its first two marquee pro riders back in February.

But OD has all the hallmarks of a scene video — a distillation of the eight years since DANY. You have Antonio’s second part this month, yes, but you have also Kevin Tierney opening it, who is a Static alumn that has been a staple in every 2010s Bronze project. You have Brandon Scott James, with his first-ever full-on part after spending so many years pulling up with some of the best shit in Naquan Rollings’ edits, and being the local that any out-of-towner remembers from their visit to L.E.S. Park. You have a Charles Lamb part, a tech stalwart whose credentials date back to Metrospective and E.S.T videos. You have Josh Velez, who has consistently been putting out parts filmed on his off days for ten-plus years. You got a fuckin’ Billy Rohan cameo. You have Byoun …Byoun’ing.

Hydration Is Key

Thanks to everyone who picked up a pair of the QS x Vans MC 96 shoes ❤️ Still got 8.5’s in the green pair, a bit more of a size run in the blue ones.

After shelving the plan indefinitely after Tompkins was repaved, the Parks Department announced that it intends to paint the surface as an effort to preserve the asphalt longer. Work is slated to begin this week, but you know how that goes… #tfreport

“As one nerd pointed out, an Olympic-level skater like Yuto films a banger and people clap, because that trick is hard and Yuto did it perfectly. Antonio films a trick and people laugh, because it is so fucking insane that he did that that it may as well be a joke.” Monster Children celebrated Antonio Durao week month by interviewing the man himself.

“I get stoked if I hear someone say ‘Oh shit, I didn’t know he could skate normally.'” Jenkem interviewed another mastermind of third-eye-open skateboarding, Montreal’s Alexis Lacroix.

#QSTOP10 — August 23, 2024

To anyone who may be disoriented by the #1 this week A.K.A. someone who hasn’t been to that spot before: please keep in mind, every visiting skateboarder has been there. Multiple people who you’d think would have a good chance of rolling away from it have tried it. Dude didn’t even put his hand down on impact. And got the bomb nollie flip after.

If you still need convincing, please allow Adam Sandler’s superfan to summarize it in more literary terms (that’s a spoiler, obviously.) It’s gigantic. Don’t let anyone fool you.
