New Jersey is a beautiful, dense place where three shops can forego any territorial tendencies found in other places, and unite to create one really special video. NJ, Travel and Underground all have riders represented in Matty Hilzenrath‘s NJ instant classic, A 20 Of Regular.
We always make a note to commend any New Jersey video that mostly avoids doing the easiest thing that a New Jersey video could do, which is, of course, taking a trip across state lines to New York City or Philadelphia. However, A 20 Of Regular doesn’t “mostly” avoid it; the video never leaves New Jersey. The result is a 2025 portrait of a scene that looks so far evolved past its nascent years, but at once familiar because it’s so committed to doing shit the way its always done it. In other words, it’s distinctly Jersey, and as indifferent to the larger scenes on its periphery as it wants to be.
Anthony Gordon’s part was a personal favorite of ours from the project — because who can’t be a fan of skating that fast on those choppy-ass spots? A 20 Of Regular hardcopies will be available soon. (And ICYMI: Free posted up Garrett Boozer’s part last week.)
