The greatest work of skateboarding fantasy sports is now live. Frozen in Carbonite’s “Song of the Summer” x “Video Part of the Summer” post is as great as it always is, despite a nowhere to be found Young Thug nod. Fwiw, QS S.O.T.S. vote is “Black Beatles.” [multiple Flex bombs; dons XXL Avirex jacket and quarter-inch-too-big fitted]

“Peels” is the new montage from QS-fave, Antosh Cimoszko.

We were talking about why The Bunt is the best, and figured it’s probably because it’s made by skateboarders who follow sports. Sports have been doing this shit for ages. Skaters, not so much. There’s a new one with Paul Rodriguez now live.

Jenkem did mini-interviews with Jahmal, Joel Meinholz and Steve Brandi, and has all their Static 4 sections live. Brb, making Jahmal’s part my homepage.

“We’re all beautiful wastemen.” Breaks has an in-depth interview with Hold Tight Henry, discussing every morsel that goes into making a skate video in 2k16.

unused shit from BG and BG2 BIRDGANG IS THE TRUTH.”

“Smoke Show” is a new 20-minute video out of Westchester from Matt Conner.

Here are a couple bro cam clips from the Adidas demo at Tompkins last week, and a bunch of photos via Transworld. #TFreport overload.

“Aging may be the great skate industry adventure of the ’10s, as grizzled pros test the tolerance of weathered ligaments and brittling bones in an ongoing quest to avoid that unholy wyrm, the Real World, and its most loathsome prison, the Day Job.” Boil the Ocean re: the constant dilemma of whether to quit while you are ahead, as pined from Jason Dill’s recent Playboy interview.

Reviews are generally a lost art in the fickle skateboard universe of today, where opinions have been condensed to “wack, “dope” or “mad wack.” Always nice to read an opinion composed out of full sentences. Speedway Mag reviewed Emerica’s Made 2 video (spoiler: Heath), and The Green Zine reviewed the Jenkem book.

Uh. “The shooter bolted from the scene on a skateboard, heading east on 141st St.”

Quote of the Week
Inquisitive Gentleman: “How do you get used to skating with long hair but no hat?”
Daniel Kim: “You don’t, you just learn how to skate blind.”

What's a harder decision?

[Really though.]

Rest in Peace Love Park. Thanks for the memories. Switch tre never went down :(

~Seven minutes of raw footage from one of everyone’s new favorites, Mark Humienik.

Joey Suriel’s Chromeball interview really puts into perspective why Menace is such a nostalgia touchstone for people two decades down the line, particularly in our current era of surging “it was the lifestyle, man”-companies. #respect to Kareem Campbell for reminding skateboarders to pay their taxes also ;)

The barred-off map manual pad at the Veteran’s Memorial [that Pappalardo first popped off in Fully Flared] is having a bit of a comeback.

There’s something heartwarming about seeing current-day footage at the Museum of Natural History, probably because Pang’s multi-level line from Mixtape holds such a dear place in my heart. Shout out to Moldy Films.

A video preview of the upcoming Big Brother book. Each issue gets two pages.

“People sometimes ask me about that in relation to skateboarding, about how it should belong to skaters in terms of an aesthetic, and that’s fucked up because it’s the genre that has stolen the most.” An interview with Palace designer, Fergus Purcell.

It seems that the boys over at France’s Free Skate Mag have joined us in fighting the good fight against redhead discrimination in skateboarding, as they premiered a new Wieger part this past week, in addition to a Strawberry Letter 23-flavored remix video.

“If future pros fistfight Russian bouncers but never speak of it publicly out of an abundance of professional caution, do the busted teeth and cracked eye sockets make any sound? Wasn’t Chris Cole straightedge at one point or is this another phantom memory like Henry Sanchez’s Aesthetics pro model?” Boil the Ocean on real-time mythmaking and neatly boxed memories.

ICYMI…1) Josh Wilson closes out the new Waylon Bone montage real strong. 2) HD video blog #19 from Johnny Wilson et al. with an averted worst case scenario. 3) Nik Stain v.s. parking garage manual pads in the latest Cell Jawn installment. 4) Andrew Wilson at the Nike SB Garage, with guest trick from Conor “QS Part in April” Prunty.

The Green Zine re: the plight of the skateboard filmer.

QS Sports Desk: The Sports Desk is an anti-Lakers establishment, as are the San Antonio Spurs. With that being said, their tribute to Kobe was very sweet. Godspeed to one of opposing NBA teams’ last true archvillians.

Hey, what else is there to do? Shorty’s Fulfill the Dream on Vimeo.

The two guys who skated from Boston to New York skated from New York to Philly this past summer. The Backstreet Atlas Guide to New Jersey premieres on Thursday, January 29 at 7 P.M. Kinfolk Studios, 94 Wythe Ave in Brooklyn. Flyer here.

Green Zine interviewed Connor about the QS + DGK project.

This guy snorted a line of cocaine and then crooked grinded a 12 stair railThis will blow your mind.” Every now and then, Slap comes through with unparalleled levels of brilliance: 2016 Ride Channel Title Predictions.

Someone went and took all the raw Max Palmer outtake footage from Johnny’s video blogs, and turned it into a fun part edited to one of the aughts’ flirtiest love songs :)

“Whereas Lennie Kirk fused spirituality with a certain on- and off-board brutality, Jereme Rogers proffers an elixir of wealth-seeking Christianity and shameless excess that seems suited to Las Vegas’ neon-heated Gamblor lairs, all-u-can-consume buffets and drive-thru wedding chapels.” Boil the Ocean on 5BNY, Vase, geographic anchors, and re-re-re-starting Jereme Rogers’ career.

Speaking of 5BNY, here’s thirty seconds of new Silvester Eduardo footage for Venture.

Said this almost exactly one year ago, but is worth repeating: Michael Mackrodt is on the shortlist of most impressive pros to see skate in real life. Watching him do lines in the unskated land of West Africa for five minutes is the next best thing ;)

Our friends at Shorty’s put together a video of the spot throughout 2015 in the stylings of Cash Money Records’ greatest exercise in cinéma vérité:

Hundred band, hundred bandFifteen seconds of new [indoor] Wade D. footage!

Fifteen seconds of new [indoor] Gino footage!

More than a few seconds of new Caddo footage!

The perfection of imperfection with Mike Maldonado.

Mambo Bar — The 270 Out Capital of New York City.

Frog Skateboards is real dude.

QS Sports Desk:Never have two teams with as high a combined winning percentage as San San Antonio (38-6) and Golden State (40-4) met this far into the season.”
