Bronx Courthouse

Spots: Uptown Manhattan — Washington Heights & The Bronx

Spot: Given the amount of coverage that the Courthouse has been in throughout the years (video parts, 411 openers, etc.), it’s likely the only spot in the Bronx that out-of-towners know about. There are a handful of other spots up there, but they are mostly cutty, out-of-the-way spots that you’ll have to find on your own.

The standout obstacles at the Courthouse are the short manual pads to kinked banks. They’re maybe four feet long, and into a short bank that turns into a four foot long kink. Some of them have curb high drops afterwards. Others have seven foot drops afterwards. They’re all waxed up from lipslides and bluntslides, so be careful when trying a manual trick.

Otherwise, there are sets of seven and five, and some random ledges scattered about.

Across the street are two, small sets of six set atop rising stair pyramid structures. They could be skated consecutively, or in a trick up, trick down fashion. The ground here is perfect, just be careful your board doesn’t shoot out into traffic.

Bust — ♦♦ / Occasional: This is a weekend only spot. You’ll get kicked out on weekdays, but can skate all you want on weekends. The place across the street is never a bust.

Location: 161st Street and Grand Concourse in the South Bronx. Take the B, D, or 4 to 161st Street–Yankee Stadium, and skate up the hill, east on 161st for four blocks and you cannot miss it.
