Still waiting on Antonio Durao’s loading dock part

Surprised that the one surviving Up Rail outside the impound in midtown isn’t more of a modern skate video fixture given the uptick of ride-on grinds. All that and more in volume six of Brad Cromer’s still predominantly New York-based “Storytime” video series.

Loved every minute of it! Kevin Taylor and the Scumco dudes toured through the backwoods and office plazas of Upstate New York for a fun new edit.

Welcome To The Party

The classic “We’ve been stuck at Columbus Park all day but at least there’s a pretty sunset”-photo. Any skaters ever from these buildings?

“Are you getting the Travis Scott SBs?”
“Yeah, we’re getting them. We’re doing a raffle over the phone — you just have to sing a Travis Scott song right now. Just tell us which one, and we’ll drop the beat.”

Area Code is a new full-length video out of The Bronx by Edgar Padilla. Features an opener from Angel Fonseca, and an ender part from Olu Stanley. And like any video out of The Bronx, it feels refreshingly different than the Tompkins-Mural Ledge-Pyramids Ledges-whatever circuit we find ourselves in on a typical #content hunt.

Who Da Neighbors

“That person next to you — whatever thing wrong you might have with them, it might be big or small — let that shit go. It doesn’t matter.” ♥♥♥

Long distance relationships are never easy, and to help soothe the heartache, Jesse Alba made a full surprise Nolan Benfield part with cameos from Cyrus ‘n them.

The full, 38-minute NY/NJ-based Sportsmanshit video is now live via Skate Jawn. A lot of “totally forgot about that spot”-reactions watching this one. Very fun, the whole way through :)

Lotties Skateshop — ‘Must Be Stopped’ Video

It was a rainy day in May of 2011. The reigning Skater of the Year was Mike McGill or Leo Romero or someone like that. Blue Park didn’t exist. Kader Sylla had not yet been born. Derrick Rose was about to become the youngest MVP in NBA history, as Future and YC’s “Racks on Racks (on Racks)” rung throughout car systems and night clubs in post-Great Recession America.

On E. 6th Street, we were helping Mike Gigliotti pack up his apartment as we scoured through bags of gear, leftover from fashions of yesteryear, and otherwise bound for Goodwill. He was due to set sail home for Los Angeles that next morning.

“I’ll be back!” he told us, ignoring in our tear-strewn faces.

…but like a wise man one said: “It’s L.A. Nobody leaves.”

#SaveTompkins in The New York Times. Sign and share the petition to keep synthetic turf off the courts at Tompkins.

The JHAKX video from Takeshi Nagamatsu has a New York section to start it off, plus a lot of familiar faces. It’s funny to see the metal strips across the Cooper Union bank get defeated one at a time over the years.

Pleasure” is a 20-minute NJ/NYC/Philly video by Hugh O’Hare, and “Don’t Smoke That Wood In Here” is a 10-minute NJ/NYC/Philly video by the Lottery Boiz. Shout out to the enduring badness of bust-free ledges in the greater New York metropolitan area, which causes all of us to still drive out to Staten Island to skate P.S. 6…in 2019. Also, of course skaters wasted no time editing something to Young Thug’s late summer beach anthem, but tbh, “went from boogie board shorty and now I’m the big kahuna” is a lot to live up to.
