If you grew up watching old Zoo videos, Jamie Reyes was no doubt the first girl you saw getting footage all over the city. (Jamie is also one of three women to have a Thrasher cover.) Our good friend Jilleen interviewed her about coming up as a female pro in 90s New York, and just how much the industry has changed since.

Every pull-quote you have ever read about the differences between California: The Home of the Skate Industry and New York: The Summer Home of the Skate Industry, has pontificated about how easy it is to get “caught up” in the, um, “party scene” here. It will be interesting to see how much of California’s competitive advantage will be shaved off after the state legislature voted to extend last call until 4 A.M. last week.

This has always felt like one of those parts that everyone forgets to mention as a favorite (well, everyone besides Aaron Herrington), but the second someone brings it up, people begin fanning out on it. Today is Washington’s birthday, but the queen’s 30th is tomorrow! We are going to stick to a Rihanna’s 30th resolution of no more late Monday Links posts! Ain’t none of us perfect, I hope it was worth it.

Somehow missed this one when it went live just over a week ago: Nick Michel, the dude who boardslid the double-rail across from the mini double-sets at Battery Park (#QSTOP10, a few weeks back) has an amazing new part up on Thrasher, which features the VX angle of trick in question plus a trick at the ride-on rail spot that’s not on the ride-on rail! Didn’t even know this was in the works — TWS made a documentary about Skateboarder magazine, which was the first ever skate mag. The “trailer” basically plays like the first seven minutes of the doc itself.

Call Me 917 has been teasing quick bits of footage from a recent midwest trip for their upcoming collaboration with Nike SB: one here and one there. The full thing supposed to drop on September 17th.
