‘The Same Boy I Used To Be’ — Bert’s Vid 2!

Just as Justin Helmkamp’s first Bert’s Vid served as a bro-cam bonus round to Mother and It’s Time, its sequel picks the baton up right around Bronze’s 2020 promo and Quasi’s Grand Prairie, and carries it through the pandemic.

Through a scratched-to-shit fisheye and an eighties soundtrack that makes the video play like a skateboard version of Sincerely Yours, Southside, we get treated to new parts from Mark Humienik, Nik Ferro, Chachi, Josh Wilson and Dick Rizzo that we never even knew to expect.

Didn’t do a Q.S.S.O.T.Y. thing last year, but obvs it would’ve been Brandon Turner — hard to think of a more inspirational moment in skateboarding from 2020 than him rolling away from Wallenburg. Jenkem has a 15-minute mini doc about Brandon’s journey back to full health and sobriety. Watching him return to that bridge is nuts.

Here’s a YouTube comp of T.J. footage off the Thrasher Instagram from the summer, which is just him cruising around midtown and Soho. Those middle of Broome Street lines are so sick.

A couple New York clips in Thomas Dritsas’ new part for Thunder. The bench to Big Belly trashcan on Wall and Water Street has fully turned into a full-fledged marquee spot this past year, huh? Shout out to the contractor who installed the mailboxes at the ender. Looks sturdy.

Bronze’s Christmas mix will warm your heart and make you smile ♥ Maybe the funniest one yet. Shout out Lindsey Robertson’s Bagels. It was a good run.

This final stretch of the year has typically meant there was some sort of QS winter getaway in the cards after New Year’s, but you know… pandemic, etc. Instead, let’s travel ~*VIRTUALLY*~ with these recent features… 1) Skate spots in the Swiss alps with Irregular, 2) The Cuban skate scene with Skateism, 3) Marble relics of the Soviet Union with Free.
