Bobby Worrest For Quartersnacks

bobby

With two solid parts already under his belt this year (including the frontrunner for the best part of the year altogether), we linked up with Bobby Worrest for a third on the occasion of his recent move to New York. This dude’s productivity level after over a decade in the game is really something to behold. Still one of the greatest classically-trained plaza skaters working today.

Guest tricks from Lurker Lou, Antonio Durao, Connor Champion, Daniel Kim, and Bob Reynolds. Filmed by Richard Quintero, John Valenti, Aaron Chilen, R.B. Umali and Steve Marino. Thanks to everyone who helped out. It was a fun one to work on.

The Quartersnacks Nike Dunk Low is in skate shops today. We will be having a pop-up store at 40 Ludlow Street (between Hester and Grand) today from 11 A.M. to 6 P.M. The Dunks will be for sale, in addition to new tees, hats, sweatshirts, jackets, and cruisers. Support your local skate site. Flyer here.

Alternate YouTube Link. Have a good weekend. Thanks to everyone who came out to the party last night ;)

  1. Does Nike pay the song rights now? Just wonderin remember before the tube was relevant was about gettin them guys to pay for bandwidth ha

  2. Seriously. You would hope that a “classically trained plaza skater” wouldn’t subject his precious viewers to the same spent spots that have been skated and filmed on countless times by every other skater that has just “recently moved to NY'”. Man, what the hell is happening to The Big Apple? First we get The Last of the Mohicans putting the 4 train on their video cover, and now this? And what in God’s name is up with that song?! Is that even music? Is that what the kid’s are listening to these days? But I do suppose commenting on this on a website that lists driving directions to those same worn out spots is fighting a losing battle. What can you do.

  3. CTTFS, the battle is long lost. NYC is brand that can be cashed in on as long as you have enough money or know the right people. Any semblance of core NYC skateboarding or the idea you had to earn respect to consider yourself a part of it no longer exists if it ever did.

But like Snack said at in the year in review post last year, that shit apparently doesn’t matter anymore and NYC is now an all embracing skate mecca, especially for pros with east coast roots; and if you think about it NYC has been called the Big Apple because everyone can get a piece no matter where you come from.

Go with it I guess; but here’s hoping they don’t make Green Diamond Dunks too.

  4. Damn u put up a good part and got some Nikes coming out and a bunch of hatin hoes pop out of the wood work. Dudes taking them slef too serious and being salty lil bitches. Fucking haters.

  5. @Philosopher, what you profess may be partially true, but let it be known that for the record there is still a huge difference between what you describe as “core”/native NYC skateboarding and the tourist/gentrification/recently arrived NYC type that this and other recent video offerings on this site have showcased. The once practiced act of “core” and “respect” in NYC (and on the East Coast for that matter) for decades hasn’t gone away. There has been a huge effort by the recently arrived to try and distract your attention away from the fact that let’s say so and so is from Florida, but because of the use of the Second Avenue subway stop, some dude blowing a horn in the Times Square station and some vent steam on a darkened NYC street, that aside from the fact that this dude has lived in New York for just over a year, we will now attempt to sell you this person as that core NYC “respect” model that the skateboarders of yesteryear here once practiced. It’s ridiculous. What seems even more ridiculous to me is that this website that on the surface seems to be “dedicated” to this old, “NYC” style of doing business would be providing an outlet for these newly arrived, wannabe, resource suckers. But like I said, the fact that this website openly provides directions to spots in the NY/NJ/LI area shoulda been the first clue that something was up. Like Biggie said in the first crack commandment, “never let no one know”.

  6. Throw in a Nike shoe to boot and you’ve got the formula. When does that Green Diamond shoe come out?

  7. NYC is Rock Steady, Weed Spots, and Nikes. So it only natural for QS and Nike. Any other brand would be suspect. Puffing Ls laid back, enjoying the smell in the Bridge, getting down it aint hard to tell, do your thing son!

  8. CTTFS all the spots u crying about are public property and shit and it “it aint where u from its where u at” . I thought u knew.
