In the company-wide Quartersnacks rankings, Reda has the second best video part of all-time, following Mariano in Mouse, so it is only right to honor his newest, all Berrics part with a proper post of its own. While it may not be as groundbreaking as his greatest work (comparisons would be unfair seeing as how it is the best video part of the decade, bar-none), it is quite a sight to behold.

Without further ado, skateboarding’s greatest coffee aficionado, Giovanni Luigi Reda.

3. We have awesome names like Giovanni Luigi Reda, Gino Iannucci, and Anthony Pappalardo. How cool does that sound and how gay does Kenny Anderson sound?

Kelly, get me the fucking wood finish!

A Cause For Celebration..

Normally, I wouldn’t do a single post linking to a video released over ten years ago, hosted off a third party video sharing site, but we’ll have to make an exception. (You’ll also have to pardon me if I’m late on this, but prior to me stumbling upon this tonight, this video only existed in cut up, part-by-part sections on YouTube as far as the internet goes). Basically, the third greatest skateboard video ever released is now on Google video, in it’s entirety. While a select few videos have managed to make their way to restored editions on DVD, it’s pretty safe to say that the vast majority of early-to-mid 90s skateboarding will never see it’s way to DVD, BluRay, HDDVD, or whatever stupid format they came out with this week, and will only live on through limited, worn-out VHS dubs and the occasional .mpg file on the internet if we happen to be so fortunate. Plus, I’m pretty sure the companies behind these videos have shifted their focus to getting more of their products into Pac Suns throughout every mall in the country to ever show interest in restoring some classic videos to DVD. In this instance, we just so happen to be fortunate enough that it finally made it’s way to the internet in an unobstructed format (meaning, it’s a one stream video). Sit back, crack open a beer, a Pepsi, or whatever else you may drink, spark whatever drugs you smoke, and enjoy the third best video ever made..

Girl & Chocolate DVD Box Set Review

But every once in a while, I need to take some time off from talking about skateboarding in New York (since nobody except people in New York themselves, New Jersey, and Japan care about skateboarding in New York these days anyway) and acknowledge some skate videos that don’t suck.

If you make one skate video purchase for the rest of your life, the new Girl/Chocolate boxset should be it. (And notice I said “purchase” not “download” because whatever shitty .mpgs you have of these videos could never amount to actually having them on your shelf.)

In this Google Video, IRC and Skate Videos Online savvy age, buying skate videos seems relatively obsolete. Most of them aren’t worth watching more than once, unless you are fifteen years old and still actually care what the newest trick down the Hollywood High 16 is. Following skateboarding became relatively impossible once the whole wave of Evan Hernandezes, P. Rods and Mike Taylors came along, since it was hard to differentiate between which little kid was doing which switch heel down which flight of stairs.
