QS shirts have been spotted in some odd locations: “Holi Thirteen” by Brandon Kuzma. (P.S. If you’re still trying to get an early order in, e-mail quartersnacks [at] gmail, though quantities remain limited. Otherwise, our webstore will re-open in June with new product. Supreme New York and Exit Skateshop in Philadelphia also have them in stock.)

Don’t you guys miss when the Green Diamond was more #street? :(

These guys are still mad street.

The French blog, Café Créme, has a new interview with Quim Cardona. His 2011 Chrome Ball interview goes deeper on some of the topics they discuss though.

The Wall Street Velvet Rope Bail. Worth watching two or ten times.

NY Skateboarding rounded up New York-related bits from recent magazines, which include the photo side of Adidas’ New York barge last year and Walker Ryan’s insane trick at the Courthouse.

Black Dave has a “First Try Fridays” segment with Eric Koston over on the Berrics.

The new Cliché video, Bon Voyage, is out on iTunes today, and most shops have the DVD in stock. The video is what you expect (though a bit less European given some recent roster additions), including a solid part from every grown-up’s favorite skateboarder, Lucas Puig. The line he does at Pulaski Park is likely the best line you’ll see all year (seeing pros just do a simple, not-Torey-Pudwills-long backside tailslide on a ledge is awesome, especially in 2013.) Also, “Best Line of 2012” title holder, Pete Eldridge, continues to skate with cigarettes and has a solid shared part with J.B. Gillet. If anyone at Cliché is interested in producing an American rap re-edit of Puig’s part, we’re all ears.

#Art Updates: 1) Jeremy Elkin put together a video of Jahmal Williams’ recent Hopps installation at Labor Skateshop. 2) “Eastern Suns,” an art thing which features Jahmal, Dan Drehobl, Bosco, 30 Pack Pat, and others will have an opening reception at Da Fish on Sunday, May 5th at 7 P.M. Flyer here.

Trife Moronic Look of the Week: They actually knobbed this “sculpture” on Houston and Broadway.

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: Nate Robinson (yes, Nate Robinson) came one point shy of Michael Jordan’s record for post points in a playoff quarter in a triple overtime win over the Nets on Saturday. Is Nets gear 80% off everywhere yet?

How insane is it that the President of the United States walked out to DJ Khaled as intro music?

Essential Viewing

Must Watch: R.B. Umali “Shoot All Skaters” — Part 2. (Part 1 here.)

Tackles various topics: Stussy Asia tour (back when Stussy had AVE, Huf, Scott Johnston, Danny Montoya, etc. all on one team), never deleting Gino footage, the Javitz double set, Kalis v.s. Pyramid Ledges, Kalis v.s. the Banks wall, Zered v.s. the Nassau rail, Zered v.s. Grace Ledge.

Shout out to Fred Gall and Josh Kalis for wearing camo pants when skating Pyramid Ledges. Shout out to to the guy who edited this for using Horace Silver as the backdrop of the last section.

The Events That Defined New York City Skateboarding in 2011: 15-11

This week’s installment. Going to finish out the remainder of the list next week. Previous editions: #25-21, #20-16.

15. Luis Tolentino Skates on High Things

Though Aldrin Garcia may have set the new highest ollie record in 2011, Luis went his own route and created an alternate, more conceptual category: Highest Average Obstacle in a Skate Part. The average height of every object he skates on or over in his Everywhere We Go Part is estimated to be 40 inches, shattering any previous records (likely held by Darren Harper and Brandon Westgate) by at least half-a-foot. This new record has lead to a variety of bizarre theories from YouTube comments, most notably that Luis has a black person in each leg.

He also started off his part with a trick at a Waffle House, so that’s always a plus.

7TH, LENOX, AND WHAT ABOUT THE EAST SIDE?

One of history’s most prolific frontside nosegrinders teamed up with one of history’s most prolific frontside 180 nosegrinders for a new Berrics “Off the Grid” segment in Harlem.

Features many prominent QS uptown stomping grounds: Lenox Ledges, the zipper ledge, Columbia (even including a token altercation with a West Indian security guard), the plastic benches at Manhattan School of Music, the hill on Claremont, and those footage-never-does-them-justice sketchy banks across from the McDonald’s on 125th Street.

The only thing missing was a stop off at Dinosaur BBQ, the Quartersnacks office’s favorite NYC-based barbecue destination. Or at least the Burger Man on 117th & Lenox.

And while we’re on the topic of uptown, Cam’ron lived up to his tweet bigging up Ri-Ri’s “Song of the Year” contender, and dropped a remix to “We Found Love.” The song’s kinda perfect already, Cam or no Cam. (Wouldn’t be opposed to Future hopping on the remix though.)
