Rob Gonyon might have the most fire iPhone videos out right now. Features a few clips from the yet-to-be-fully-completed East Williamsburg Bushwick Skatepark.

Can’t remember the last time a bunch of people in New York kept bringing up a foreign Vimeo upload as much as the Parisian “Daydream” clip from last week.

Mango and friends skating #weird stuff around New York for three minutes.

Boil the Ocean on all potential S.O.T.Y. candidates. I’ll buy everyone who reads this site a crook shove at the bar if it ends up not being A.V.E. In related news, a Max Palmer two-peat is not entirely impossible for Q.S.S.O.T.Y.

Though there a few Japanese kickflips to appreciate in this part, the dude does maybe the greatest backside 180 5-0 grind ever done as his ender. It looks like a full-on manual. Thanks to Mostly Skateboarding for pointing that one out.

Nice to see Zeigfeld still sorta existing post-apocalypse.

Chromeball has a great interview with Thomas Campbell about the early days of skate magazines, which also touches on the making of the first Supreme video / short film from 1996. “Some people had beef with those [Euro] articles because they felt those countries didn’t support skateboarding. Whatever. Who cares. We’re on the Earth. Go skate whatever you want.” You heard your boy Mars got water now?

Mike Carroll on #musicsupervision and…Lupus.

Speaking of Carroll, SMLTalk tried to get to the bottom of the varial flip’s re-accepted place in the trick selection landscape, i.e. how it went from getting boo-ed at contests to perfectly fine to throw mid-line in 2015.

KCDC built some new stuff under the B.Q.E. thanks to the DLX build project.

Back in the Office…

On the bandwagon since 2013 :)

Had a rough past week for site updates. Just spent a lot of time trying to figure life out, yaknow? (No, not returning to the dark days of 2006-2009 where it was updated three times a month — the modern news cycle couldn’t handle that, r u crazy?)

New teamrider on Mother Collective.

Nieratko interviewed Peter Sidlauskas over on Vice.

What a week for wheel company videos! If the future of skate videos isn’t in a Shorty’s Guilty VHS tape or fifteen-second IG edits, maybe sub-two minute wheel company videos could be a guiding light? Jordan Trahan for Autobahn with the non-IG angle of 2014’s 360 Flip of the Year / leading practitioner of boardslide-tech, Jesus Fernandez, with a quick part for Bones Wheels (sidebar: I was recently informed of a weird sect that swears by Bones over Spitfires…is this real?) / Michael “Top 3 Person to See Skate in Real Life” Mackrodt with a part for a potentially unsubtle drug front.

Lurker Lou came through with a wear test for the Osiris D3. Apparently, it’s not much different than skating a foamposite.

Tyler, the Tufty has the opener in the D.C-based “Alley Bar 9.”

New iPhone edit via Rob Gonyon with a bunch of the Bronze guys, and one of the highlights off Barter 6.

A half-minute of J-John the Don footage from the Krooked Korea trip.

This video got e-mailed to us more that pretty much any other video ever throughout the past week. It’s good for a few laughs.

There are a lot of new things to skate in Milan, beyond just the train station.

Brief Ray Barbee sighting, who also probably earned the loudest cheer of the night at the Propeller premiere, just off an intro appearance.

Oh wow, another Colombia skate clip with a missed #musicsupervision opportunity.

They made one of those “oral histories” about Redman’s Cribs episode. “The reason I was on the floor was because the couch — you know how it is when you’re sleeping on a leather couch and it gets all hot? When it’s too hot to sleep on the couch, I just go right to the floor. It’s a cooler situation.”

If you borrowed money to go to school, and need a reason to cry and/or begin planning on how to fake your own death, have fun reading this.

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: Steph beat James Harden MVP voting. Fingers crossed for a Clippers-Warriors Western Conference Finals.

TRUST – The New Bronze Video

March 9th, 2015 | 3:01 am | Daily News | 9 Comments

bronze 56k trust

Monday Links are getting bumped for a day.

The latest Bronze audio-visual presentation is now on YouTube. Turns out the Bronze office really does use a 56k modem. Need some proper time to properly digest the sensory overload. So many feelings, so much confusion, so much joy, a few tears and even a few laughs. Didn’t Andrew Allen do that first?

Features Josh Wilson skating incredibly fast, Jordan Trahan stringing together many distant skate obstacles in unorthodox fashion, Shawn Powers looking wonderfully kempt and curated in the moonlight, Billy McFeely maintaining an odd life-long allegiance to that horrible high ledge at 20th and C, Rob Gonyon running through the six, Joseph Delgado including mid-2000s pre-Bronze Flipmode staple Pedro Garboza in his part, Chachi logging the first known line in Nike Foamposites, a career-best outing from Kevin Tierney, and Dick Rizzo making you yell drawn-out obscenities at your screen a few times.

Just a lot of emotions, man. Go to the Bronze webstore and buy things to help them pay back their $30K debt to Pig Wheels for production costs.

Ya, def.

Back in town. Heard of two new spots already! Some of these links are old obvs.

Lucas Puig and friends at MACBA. That little kid rips.

After causing quite a few cringes and “Ooohhh” reactions at the Static 4 premiere, Orchard put the painful teaser for their new video, Stone Soup, online.

“Based on his Bay Area legacy and the fact that my personal affinity for Marcus in my youth had gone as far as the habitual wearing of a Starter T-shirt inspired by the Trilogy VHS that was effectively super glued in my VCR, I was nervous just to be around him.” FYI: This should be mandatory weekly viewing.

Yoooooooooo Huf’s in-and-out Banks wall line

Ever wonder how skateboards are made? Here’s a brief mini doc on that very subject from the crew at Chapman Skateboards.

Jason Dill talks about pants and his Photosynthesis part. “That’s a bad frontside noseslide.” (Why didn’t they discuss the recording of this call though?)

NY Skateboarding filmed the entire Q & A with Chris Carter and Duane Pitre from the Memory Screen event that happened in Brooklyn last week.

Jenkem has an interview with Kevin Tierney and Transworld has an interview and mini clip with Rob Gonyon. Always found it weird when people (and there are A LOT of them, not just Rob) lose interest in the NBA when the Knicks aren’t involved, thus depriving themselves of viewing actually *good* basketball. It’s like listening to Wu-Tang and turning the song off after U-God’s verse ends. Anyway, new Bronze video!

Cooper Winterson has a cool new mini video with all the young guns. Citibike wallies!

Happy rap music! (“There seems to be an inordinate amount of exclamation points.”)

Hopps has a quick “Welcome to the Team” Insta vid for Cyrus Bennett and a mini clip with Brian Clarke from the Battery Park L Ledges.

The Canadian Vans team goes to Boston, New York and Philadelphia.

Raekwon and Ghostface Lieberman.

QS Sports Desk: Hyped that the Sports Desk’s new favorite non-German player over 6′ 3 won the Finals MVP. Lebron must really hate the state of Texas.

Start of Summer / Memorial Day Weekend 2014 Montage

dre all white

All white season is upon us.

We’re up to nine Christmas clips and nine Start of Summer clips…

Features Josh Velez, Rob Gonyon, Keith Denley, Matthew Perez, Connor Champion, Troy Stillwell, Kadeem Walters, Lurker Lou, Emilio Cuilan, Elijah Cole, Lui Elliot, Andre Page, Eli Reed, Brendan Carroll, Jack Sabback, Zach Baker, Sweet Waste, Will Robson-Scott, Pad Dowd, Kevin Tierney and Tyler Tufty.

This Memorial Day Weekend also commemorates four years since QS relaunched as a modern, somewhat frequently updated enterprise. Prior to that (2005-2010), it was a depository of inside jokes that got updated bi-weekly. It has sometimes been a struggle to keep this thing current during those four years, but it’s been fun. Four years is a long time — when the site relaunched, Waka was the most #relevant rapper out, our intro post had Jersey Shore references, Amare Stoudemire played for the Suns and they were in the Western Conference Finals, and Monday Links happened on Saturdays — so we’d like to pat ourselves on the back a bit. We’d also like to thank you for visiting, talking shit in the comments, and any kind words or referrals throughout the years.

Hard to even remember what life was like before Future.

Anyway, if you want 25% off anything that’s left in the webstore, enter MEMORIALDAY at checkout. We on dat J. Crew shit fam. Discount does not apply to shipping and expires on Monday night ♥♥♥ xoxo ;) Enjoy the long weekend.
