Max P. by Ben C.

All those years of covering high fashion on QS have finally paid off! We did a small run of #colorful items that would match Young Dro’s automobile paint jobs for Dover Street Market. Available instore and online via the New York location now. Available via Ginza and London later this week. Regular webstore leftovers are now on sale btw.

Drew Connors’ Bailar vid is the first great local project of the year. Street-heavy Shredmaster Keith part, tons of seldom-chartered spots all around the city, and a good deal of WTFs in the ender section. Fuel for the upcoming week of fifty-degree days.

Nearly a decade-and-a-half later, we learn that Ali really did ollie the 25 before Jaws.

Since the premiere of this past All City Showdown, some of the crews have been putting extended edits online: 1 – “Last Place” where nobody leaves #TheLower via Matthew Velez (the mind behind last year’s thoroughly awesome and underrated Sable video.) 2 — “Director’s Cut” via Westchester’s PFP squad.

Half cab kickflip backside 5050 :)

Olson, Cyrus, Loose Trucks, and newest Call Me 917 addition, Nik Stain, at the Nike SB Garage in Brooklyn. Here’s a *mandatory link* to Nik Stain’s Bruns part also.

Dude y r beautiful women objectifying our #rebellious #youth #culture just so they could look all cute on the way to the gym or whatever man. Jk ;)

Genesis in L.A. and Jason Byoun in the snow.

Enjoyed this hour-and-a-half interview with Beagle Oneism. Tons of insight on the inception of Baker, what being a SoCal-based skate filmer is actually like, etc.

If $1K is too much to spend on the complete Big Brother collection, Jenkem is reporting that the mag is releasing a coffee table book this spring that compiles its best / worst moments. Also wow @ Carnie’s Boob book for $250 on Amazon.

Dont hear too much about skating in Macau A.K.A. Hong Kong’s Vegas. Rad lil’ edit.

Now sure what the bigger facepalm is… Nas making a “March Madness” remix, or Meek Mill dropping a Drake diss on January Thirtieth Two Thousand and Sixteen.

Labor and Supreme (tees only) both have spring QS gear in stock. Other U.S. shops (Black Sheep, Commissary, Exit, Homebase, NJ, Orchard, Seasons, Supreme L.A. & Uprise) will be receiving it this week. Internationally next week. Webstore opens at midnight E.S.T. on April 6th. (Next Monday, but technically Sunday night.)

Max Palmer shout out bro. Jack Greer got bars.

We have a new frontrunner for 2015’s Noseslider of the Year.

Ja$onwear Pace University double-set attempts, circa 2004. Has nobody still ollied this thing? Feel like this is a prime “So-and-so did it in some midwest video that nobody has seen”-scenario. Expecting a Vimeo link in the comments :)

Fat Kid Spot is getting turned into a skate plaza.

“Through it all the shoe has come to be regarded as the most immediate extension of the seven-ply-trucks-and-urethane configuration, but the past decade’s footwear fetishization mainly serves to obscure a decades-long struggle with pants.” Boil the Ocean uses Nakel’s floral TWS cover as a springboard to examine the current condition skateboarders’ favorite topic: pants.

Two months late on this, but someone re-edited a bunch of Alex Olson B-roll from Johnny Wilson’s clips to a song that Alex Olson would probably maybe might skate to. Someone at L.E.S. is trying to body varial out of a grind as you read this.

Mike Anderson has to be one of the most underrated dudes out there. Part is a year old, but Krooked uploaded his “Yellow Van” ender as a standalone thing.

SMLTalk has an abbreviated history of the salad grind, including an interesting theory that Chris Dobstaff was the principal reason behind its fall from popularity.

New obstacle at 12th & A!

The city of Philadelphia will review a plan for the remodeling of Love Park at the end of April. Construction is slated to begin at the end of next winter. That huge grass field is going to look great with a homeless encampment on it. You think someone nollie back heels or fakie flips the gap before it gets torn down in a year?

Gino has been doing quite a few interviews as of late.

Slicky Boy got new sounds to bump on the T.F. bench this spring.

Here’s the original trailer for the first Static video.

Remember when Reynolds started a shoe company in the mid-2000s? Me either.

QS Sports Desk: OMG @ Timofey Mozgov’s local Cleveland TV commercial.

Cherish your favorite QS tees, because sometimes, they won’t get reprinted ;)

Gotta love Rihanna. Who else is recording bangers that relate to the struggles of freelancers in New York still waiting on checks from 2014? Love you girl ♥

tony montgomery

No idea who shot this photo (it comes from the creditless abyss known as Tumblr) the photo was taken by Andrej Tur, but it is amazing. Tony Montgomery, a long time ago. Also: watch this.

Nobody should have any issues with this year’s skater of the year selection — unless your issue is that Pat Pasquale got robbed, in which case, you have a valid point, and should go vote for his Theatrix part as the best part of the year over on the TWS site.

BTW, Wes Kremer met his connect in Costa Rica.

Jerry Mraz is a true American hero who has contributed to skateboarding in this city in many ways. Credit to Jenkem for shining a light on his untold story.

An interview with Antoine Asselin, Real teamrider and one of the main minds behind modern skateboarding’s greatest thinktank.

Found this really interesting: How the business of clearing music rights for skate videos works. (Though I personally would’ve asked how the hell Plan B cleared Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” for Torey Pudwill’s part, since she worked on the clearance for True. Clearing a Stones song for a skate video seems almost as impressive as a 20-foot-long back noseblunt pop-out.)

If riding a shaped board in 2014 is akin to using a flip phone in 2014, when is Rihanna for Welcome going to drop? Fwiw, Nokia bricks > flip phones.

Wow @ the 5050 transfer (3:10) at Love Park in this “Lawrence of Gnarabia” edit. Never really see anyone skate that ledge. Shout out Peter O’Toole.

The Broadway Bump was one of the funnest midtown spots ever (Keenan Choc Tour opener), though by today’s standards, it’d barely be considered a spot for most kids.

J.B. Gillet bought Makaveli on cassette the first day it came out.

Can’t wait for Beastern Exposure.

Lottery Boiz II, a new NY-based video from some guys who really like Chief Keef.

Sick line at Chase — not at the three-up-five-down — in this Coda crew clip.

So much for that remark about Houston Street construction yielding less popular spots as of late

Rich..Gang throwaway tracks omg.

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: Need to embed this.

The QS Sports Desk is an anti-Lakers establishment #2011mavs4ever, but wow Nick Young is perfect (even though he stole the opening bit to his interview from Kosmo Kramer.) Kobe will probably strangle him by the end of the season.

Thanks to anyone who purchased something from the webstore last week. We should be caught up with shipping out orders today, or Tuesday at the absolute latest.

Apparently, D. Wade is a D. Reider fan. He’s not the only one.

Chrome Ball’s 900th post is dedicated to the Brooklyn Banks — “A testament to the resourcefulness of skateboarders when they can just be left the fuck alone.” In case you weren’t going on the site several years ago, we posted a series of interviews about the Banks in 2010, after the spot got completely shut down for bridge repairs.

Nick vonWerssowetz’s new video, CCTV, is great. Mostly filmed in New York, save a part in San Francisco. Great spot selection, presentation, and a soundtrack for all those yet to embrace Future / the future. Features Shawn Powers, Adrian Vega, and others. The DVD is for sale online and at Labor Skateshop for $10.

ICYMI: The second chapter in a tumultuous month for sponsor resignations.

QS Sports Desk Play of the Week: Tayshaun Prince dunks on three Thunder players at once. You know what’s weird? Prince has been in the conference finals seven times in his career; Kobe and Duncan have eight appearances.

We’ve been fans of Christian Willis’ skating for a while now. After what seems like a bit of a hiatus, he’s back taller and with a sick new video part. Why a legitimate company hasn’t given this kid a chance is absurd. Him and Forrest Edwards should be getting checks for skating.

As you may already know, London’s Southbank is facing an uncertain future. There’s a new six-minute montage paying tribute to the spot, featuring every London-based skater you can think of. Huck wrote a somewhat level-headed appraisal of the situation, which doesn’t seem likely to favor preservation of the spot as it stands. But it’s a bit stupid to say “The British skate media is secretly tired of Southbank’s status as the UK’s EMB,” considering skate spots with multi-decade spanning histories are becoming increasingly rare with each passing year.

The inaugural entry to 2013’s “Summer Trip to New York” cycle?! Part 1, Part 2.

AM New York has a new clip with Ariel Perl shredding around Boston and New York.

Ripped Laces contends that Austyn Gillette will inevitably skate for Converse.

Zered Bassett already rides for Converse and has some photos with a new interview about a recent Cons Hawaii trip over on the Transworld site.

The new LurkNYC video, CCTV, is premiering at 44 Troutman Street in Brooklyn this Saturday, May 18. J train to Myrtle-Broadway. 10 P.M. Flyer here, teaser here.

Cam rapped over the Golden Girls theme and the new Waka mixtape is pretty good because it doesn’t sound like every other tape he released in the past three years.
