We keep waiting.

Waiting for Logan to emerge from his lair (which may or may not still be upstairs from the old Quartersnacks office) and begin working on the 917 video.

Waiting for famous house DJ, Challex Olson, to climb out from the twelve-foot-tall mountain of “Lover” hoodys and drop some new footage.

Waiting for Transworld to learn how to spell Cyrus’ name right. Or at least waiting to meet this emotional “Cryus” creature that they attributed their cover to.

Waiting for Drew to say “YOOOOOOO” longer than the last time he said “YOOO.”

Waiting for Ishod to admit he inherited Lebron’s headband collection.

Waiting for Johnny to start eating cheeseburgers and making weekly video blogs again, reclaiming the banner of productivity that he held so tightly from 2012-2015.

Waiting for Max to find a metal crevice that he can’t send his board through.

…I think Andrew has a longer “YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” in him, but for everything else, we’ll have to keep waiting, and waiting. In the meantime, here’s a video from some of those guys forcing us to play the wait game, and a couple guys with their names on skate shoes skating throughout the south this past spring.

Rainy Update – Max Palmer, Cyrus & John Choi in ‘1one1’

Once a surefire bet for a bi-weekly edit, the always in-demand Johnny Wilson now only emerges from the unregulated cigarette smoke of New York’s hottest nightclubs to drop an edit maybe quarterly. And so, fans of everyone’s favorite skater Max Palmer, everyone’s favorite hucker John Choi, and Johnny’s less nightlife-afflicted and less-prone-to-holding-a-bat brother Andrew have turned to the alternative media for footage of Paych alumni skating knocked over telephone poles.

Sean Dahlberg, whose 2012 video Mama’s Boys brought us the first full-lenth Cyrus part and what was at the time the most comprehensive Max Palmer part in existence, just uploaded an edit with those guys, plus some dope footage of the boys skating the only skatepark in New York that requires helmets + pads, and John Choi doing a bomb switch 360 flip. Do we start a change.org petition for a 2017 John Choi QS part?

Is it weird I’m afraid to watch the Vans video but have watched this three times today?

Twisted Illusions — A Full-Length Video by Max Palmer

twisted illusions

There are few things more excruciating than watching 2014 Q.S.S.O.T.Y, Max Palmer, be unable to skateboard. While spending the last third of 2015 healing a broken elbow, Max — a proud user of a T9-utilizing flip phone that only works sometimes — began filming things on video mode of his digital camera to pass the time. Some may remember this “device” being used in novelty projects like Krooked’s Gnaughty in an era before iPhones, #skatevideohouse, and even Flip Cams.

The resulting footage became Twisted Illusions, a half-hour video that features the B-roll to every Johnny Wilson-filmed session that took place from September 2015 onward. As Johnny himself has become engulfed in the bright lights of downtown celebrity, it’s reassuring to know that the faces who brought you video., Space Heater and Beef Patty are still operating at the same productivity levels that initially cast them in the national spotlight. (Max’s elbow is better now, btw.)

Features parts from Jesse Alba, Genesis Evans, Conor Prunty, Max himself, Kohlton, Cyrus Bennett, Andrew Wilson, Mitch from Philly, and a potential Line of the Year candidate from anti-Chinatown Double-Set activist, Jonathan Choi.

Quartersnacks’ Canadian Headquarters

The Bunt Podcast has an interview with Canadian sweethearts Ben Blundell and Tyler Warren about crook shoves, getting beat up by “chongos,” filming for the upcoming Antisocial video, Clint Walker beef, etc. Made me #lol more than a few times.

I’m not going to sit here and tell you that this Geoff Campbell part doesn’t have the most # Quartersnacks # trick selection ever.

Andrew Allen’s part in the new Hockey promo is absolutely incredible. Also features the first full Ben Kadow part since maybe \m/ ? Oh AND! Tino Razo did a heartfelt interview with Andrew Allen for Monster Children.

Transworld posted the photos and interview from Cyrus’ AM issue feature.

Here’s an annotated map of Pulaski by Jimmy Pelletier, one of the spot’s longest tenured filmers. “If you called 202-638-9511 on the other side of the pole, a homeless person would usually answer and you could ask if there were any skaters across the street. If they said ‘yes,’ you asked them to yell one of them over to the phone.”

The line-up and challenges for skateboarding’s greatest contest has been released.

“The general consensus with the politicians in Copenhagen is that this is a capital, it’s noisy, people come here to party, have a good time and we need to make the most of that. If it gets too noisy, then move to the country: this is a capital city. I’m not even going to take credit for that, it comes from the politicians.” Basically, Copenhagen is the fucking greatest, and we can’t have nice things in the U.S. #FDT

The New York Times did a feature on the Brujas crew up in The Bronx.

Everything You Wanted To Know About the Blobys But Were Too Afraid To Ask.

Johnny and co. at the new McCarren Skatepark.

An interview with the guy who answered the phones at World Industries.

“Are the recent techy stabs a sign that the tide finally is turning away from simplicity or just further fodder to an every-ten-years-tech-shoe fad?” Boil the Ocean re: the resurgence of tech-heavy skate shoes.

Cons put together a chill comp of Sage’s footage from their world tour.

John Shanahan and LurkNYC spent a couple of days in Montreal.

Hmmm…whose “board” is that?

Tell your friends you love them.

The State V.S. Radric Davis & Lucas Puig. Literally the greatest.

“What do you want to hear about: money, guns or drugs?” Chromeball has been killing it with the nineties New Yorker interviews lately. The one with Vinny Ponte from today is incredible and is really going to make you want to party, and the Steven Cales one from last week is as comprehensive of a story on him as you’re gonna get. Hear there’s another one in line with a personal hero of the QS office…

Did you know that Dustin Hoffman’s “I’m walking here!” bit from Midnight Cowboy was completely improvised? “Mean Streets” is a new LurkNYC montage series for the Transworld website. Great looking 360 flip in there.

Surprisingly enjoyed the hell out of this. A 25-minute interview with Josh Kasper. Yes, he does talk about ollieing the DJ. Osiris really was the best man. It was the definitive creative force between skateboarding’s closest counterpart to rap’s shiny suit era. My lifegoals are to produce a documentary on Osiris and own a Paine Webber bench.

Sometimes it’s just great to watch a feel-good “Summer Trip to NY” clip, yaknow?

Bill Strobeck uploaded four minutes worth of extras from the Supreme Paris video.

A new video blog from Johnny Wilson and friends + a new iPhone clip from Johnny Wilson and friends + a new Cafe Creme interview with Johnny Wilson where he talks about his friends. Shout out to Conor’s back noseblunt. Logan have you filmed anything for your part yet?

Boil the Ocean kicked off its annual “Summer Mixtape” series with one of my five favorite parts of all-time. Best #musicsupervision ever pretty much :)

Could this news be more shocking than Kevin Durant’s switch to the Golden State Warriors? Peter Smolik has parted ways with the Sk8Mafia in exchange for a spot on the rebooted Menace team. Yeah, they rebooted Menace.

The rideaway at the Wall Street gap is fucked now.

QS Sports Desk: What a weekend! Although it was a day before the world got turned upside down with the KD news + Tim Duncan retirement, this has been my favorite bit of free agency coverage. And remember, The Mavs won the title the first year of the Miami Big 3 ;) Enough with all this “this makes the league boring!” shit. Also, this GQ eulogy for the KD+Russ era is quite great.

Our good friend Roctakon recently dropped this mix of current day hits + dancehall classics + other stuff with Formerly Erock. Just in time for summer and BBQ season :) Pretty sure it’s his first time doing a mix since the QS-fave, NPBS mix.

Thanks to everyone who came out to China Chalet on Saturday. The smoke took a good seven days off all of our lives. DANY DVDs later this summer.
