“The ConEd Banks sit quietly near the entrance to a mysterious 300-acre parcel of land that has been a site of energy, pollution, and controversy for over 100 years.” Village Psychic wrote the history of the ConEd Banks, which has a strong crossover with the New York hardcore scene of the 1980s. (Before anyone asks, yes we have looked into doing a “Favorite Spot” with Zered about it, but the consensus seemed to be that the footy was too scattered.)
Figured it was due time, and that the city’s three dozen skateparks have evolved past a point of us needing to point some eager tourists towards the direction of the B.Q.E. lot. Updated the QS spot book for the first time in ~two years, mainly to acknowledge the fact that, yes, curbs are formal *spots* now. Removed a handful of outdated ones (yes, the B.Q.E. lot #lol), too. Thrasher has been posting some gems before clocking out for the weekend as of late. “Down Bad” is a Philly video by Harry Bergenfield. Includes the second Kris Brown opener part in two weeks, a lot of Jahmir Brown footy, and a wild ender section from Brian O’Dwyer. Front feeble Zuccotti is nuts.

Kurt Havens, the Academy Award winning filmmaker behind 2012’s Twomanji video, is back with another full-length VHS / Hi-8 / old camera (?) project entitled Ballhog. It’s pretty much a vintage-tinged Bronze B-cam video from the past couple years, and features iconic parts from Mark Humienik, Billy McFeely, and Josh Wilson.
Gang Corp, Frog, Humble, The Skate Kitchen, and Hardbody all have spreads in the new issue of Japan’s Eyescream mag. Probably won’t do you much good if you can’t read Japanese (the Google Translate camera feature is sick though), but still rad to see nonetheless. Shout out to everybody.

VHS may currently be the most reliable form of time travel available to humans (at least as far as skate videos are concerned.) TWOMANJI is a video by Kurt Havens that claims to originate from 1998, but looks like 1988, as it has more in common with the Skate NYC videos that surfaced online last spring (see here or here) than anything actually released in 1998. (Much speculation surrounds this theory.) Many fear that we will soon live in a world where skateboard plagiarists begin filming new tricks at spots in the VHS format in an effort to convolute skateboard history and A.B.D. timelines. Government intervention within this largely unregulated form of time travel seems inevitable.
The video features various Flipmode affiliates, and even a 5-minute Bronze section midway with extras from the past several Sidlauskas productions. A good watch, even if many mysteries surrounding TWOMANJI‘s origins remain.
