Came To Majorca For Nothing

Man, 8:15 might be long for a trip edit in our era of torched attention spans — but, hear me out — the majority of the crew from the Sicily trip spent the past two years cooped up stateside. And, AND, AND — the first time we made it out to Europe, Majorca was kind enough to bless us with no rain for ten days straight… we came back with a fuckin’ 30+ minute raw timeline 😲

Also, Justin and Nick went pro since that last trip, and pros stack 😈

Some of that 30+ minutes is chilling with horses, some of it was goofing around in an out-of-season water park, and all of it was at spots that Brady had been to throughout his ten times (seriously, ten) of visiting Majorca since the Blueprint days. Wrote a more extensive thing about it in the current issue of Free, which they’ll put online eventually ;)

Features Nick Michel, Justin Henry, Etienne Gagne, Diego Todd, Ben Blundell and Danny Brady. Supported by Vans.

Filmed by Johnathan Flechas and Emilio Cuilan. Edited by Emilio Cuilan.

Live Every Day Like It’s Chuck’s Birthday

It’s sold out everywhere, but just another nod to how great the Brandon Turner guest board for Carpet Company is. 10/10 to everyone involved.

Thanks to everybody who grabbed something from the webstore last week ♥ Should be caught up on shipping in the next few days. Available at shops worldwide now. If you came looking for XLs after the relaunch and it was coming up sold out, check back now. Restocked a bunch of styles in XL. (Will do 2XL on the next release for everyone who has been asking, yes.)

Last week, the New York City Public Design Commission voted unanimously to remove and relocate the Roosevelt statue in front of the Museum of Natural History. There are renderings available that propose fully flattening the chains + pedestal section of the plaza skate spot, but there has been no formal decision on the design once the statue is gone — with people saying they should rethink the pedestal space (A.K.A. the #perfectlearningheight ledge that everyone loves) rather than just leveling where it once stood.

The Price of Fireworks is Skyrocketing

Summer QS goods available in shops worldwide now. (Should be arriving in Europe / the U.K. throughout the week.) The QS webstore relaunches with summer items this Wednesday, June 23rd, at 11 A.M. E.S.T. Photo above via Labor Skateshop.

It’s incredible that when some people rally for the preservation of a place that inadvertently became an iconic skate spot, it could just get kept the same and furnished with flawless new ground — rather than the alternative, which is of course, them being told to go fuck themselves. ANYWHO, the Hélas caps company offers a who’s who of European ledgesmanship in its latest video filmed entirely at Lyon’s Hotel de Ville plaza.

There’s a solid batch of New York clips in Kevin White’s new “GLOBETROTTER” part. (Everyone get your time in on that Tribeca manny pad while that corner is still up for lease…) He’s also the latest subject of Pocket‘s always-enjoyable “Followed” series.

Flexfits

Thrasher has been posting some gems before clocking out for the weekend as of late. “Down Bad” is a Philly video by Harry Bergenfield. Includes the second Kris Brown opener part in two weeks, a lot of Jahmir Brown footy, and a wild ender section from Brian O’Dwyer. Front feeble Zuccotti is nuts.

“It makes me wonder how I’d have turned out if I’d only skated with people my own age? I don’t know if I’d have the same discipline.” Farran did a #longform interview with Justin Henry for the Slam City Skates blog.

Last week’s repeat viewing award winner: Mark Del Negro’s new part for Hopps.

Five Favorite Parts With Justin Henry

Skateboarding’s recent history has felt less centered on moving out west to chase the industry, and more open to skaters making a name for themselves on their own terms. Most people first became aware of Justin Henry through his OPM part for Embassy Skateshop out in Columbus, Ohio. Justin’s skateboarding since then has always felt grounded in this hometown (or home-state) pride, and his influences highlight how there’s always a pinch of something special when you do it for the town ;)
