Merry Christmas

Usually, I start these things some time around the 20th or 21st of December and see how I like them over the next couple of days before Christmas. This time around, I started about 2 hours before midnight on Christmas. So, a lot of hours in FCP, a few dozen cross dissolves, and three or four coffees later, this is what I came up with.

Its a typical QS December 25th / End of the year mood piece with pianos and shit. Handycams, flip cams and some three-chips here and there. Dusty and dirty lenses and bad filming on my part included of course.

You know the drill — part one is the homies, part two is the roster. It is the fifth year anniversary of QS Christmas clips and I think next year is bound for a full-scale Weiss comeback to his former 2005 glory. Hopefully they re-model Lincoln Center with something that he can kickflip nose manual this time next year.

Features: Adrian Vega, some Boston dudes, German Nieves, Allen Siegler, Ian from Union, Dennis Feliciano, Keith Denley, Jersey Dave, the Gothic Raver, Alex, Shawn Powers, Staten Island Adrian, Tohmi Shiroyama, Ty Lyons, Aaron Szott, Danny Weiss blowing it as usual, Isak Buan, Francesco Pini, Taji Ameen, Kevin Teirney, Ian Reid, Pad Dowd, Galen Dekemper, Miles Marquez, Thando Beschta, Benjamin Nazario, Matthew Mooney, Vladimir Kirilenko, DJ Roctakon.

Thanks to everyone who contributed footage: Justin White, Jimmy Marketti, David Spodofora, Dennis Feliciano, JP Blair, Anthony Beckner, Alex Rialdi, Pad Dowd, Joe Cups.

QS10312008. This is really a shameful display of Halloween antics, but I figure it is better than nothing. Hopefully we’ll have everything together by next year. This thing is so shameful that it excludes the snackman trademark to avoid any direct association. Plus, it is not even worthy of quicktime file. There’s some actual skateboarding at the end that kind of sucks.

Upon doing some Youtube research of spots in Trenton, I quickly learned that it is the only city bad enough where the majority of your results have to do with ten year olds throwing rocks and trying to rob you at the spot, and crackheads insisting that they have a better grasp of life than you do.

48 Blocks posted an interview with J Strickland, the person who is singlehandedly responsible for the ever-so-popular scumbag-image marketing in skateboarding today. If you read one skateboarding related interview this year, this should be the one. Features plenty of insight into the the industry and a lot of L.A. hate.

Quote of the Week: [While "I Got Your Money" is playing]
Isak Buan: “I hate this song. Watch, they’re probably going to fucking play ‘Juicy’ next.
[2 minutes later]
DJ Speakers: “Yeah, this album is dedicated to all the teachers that told me I’d never amount to nothing..

It’s a recession..

Gas prices are lower, but quarter snack prices keep getting higher. Even moreso out of state. Here’s a short little b-roll clip (although its arguable that the entire site itself is one giant b-roll) from a quick two-day trip across I-76 to Pittsburgh and some standard Midtown outtakes. Features Ty Lyons, Miles Marquez, Isak Buan falling, and Benjamin Nazario. The second-to-last spot is skatestopped like all hell, so don’t bother asking.

New clip featuring Charles Lamb, Ben Nazario, Switch Michael Strobert, Matthew Mooney, Galen DeKemper, Miles Marquez, ravers, Thando Beschta, Isak Buan, Michael Gigliotti skating flat, Danny Weiss not landing anything and Ty Lyons. Contributing camera holder, Miles Marquez. The clip is a pretty significant achievement in that we did not leave Manhattan once in filming it.

Last night marked probably the first time in its thirty year history that a group of individuals met up at the Fish to go skateboarding. So here is another clip full of skateboarding antics and annoying reminders of the time. Filming skateboarding during any period before 2AM seems to have rendered itself a pretty useless process since it often leads to dead ends, kickouts, annoying pedestrians, and the lack of the fresh, first-thing-in-the-morning smell of bacon.
