I had to re-vamp some things because I got bummed on the way the site looks. Everything looks better when it leans to the left, so that whole centered thing had to get taken care of.

If you’ve been coming here for a while, you’re probably familiar with my stance of the Slap Message board being arguably the worst thing on earth. Recently though, I found a single redeeming feature of it that actually earned it the honor of getting bookmarked in addition to inciting a non-spamming post about Quarter Snacks on my behalf. Some bright individual came up with the idea of starting a New York City photo appreciation thread, which then led to a gradual uncovering of many long lost photographs I have not seen in years. It takes several pages to filter yourself through the post-2000 photos, but there are still tons of 90s photos that will have you crying about how there are no more spots in New York.

They are gradually beginning to put more info out there regarding the New York Skate Movie, which is now apparently know as Deathbowl to Downtown. Check out their website for some clips, trailers, photos and other info. Still no sign of a release date though.

Steve kindly updated Square Films with his first clip longer than thirty seconds in two years.

Some guy made one of the few worthwhile skateboard blogs I’ve come across. Policeinformer.blogspot.com is filled with tons of 1990s interviews from the likes of Carroll, Mariano, etc. and tons of classic photos/ads, including the best back smith ever, pictured below, and this Ryan Hickey Zoo ad. I broke out the scanner and have some stuff in the same vein coming soon.

You heard it here first.

Some information, photos, and teaser clips on the Nike SB video, Nothing But the Truth, set to release this fall.

Static III set to release “around” the weekend of September 21st.

While on the topic of videos, what happened to that New York skateboarding documentary that I linked to a trailer of around February?

Security guards are so cool.

The Wall Street Journal found some relevance in the topic of blank boards vs. company logo boards. Blank decks are evidently “killing the industry.” Sick.

The Snackman VS The Snow, Man

Unless you’re the type to head out to Drop In, chances are, you’re going to be spending your long weekend pretty skateboardless. No worries, plenty of time to get drunk, buy new Dunks, cry when Supreme doesn’t have your size, and make sure your outfit matches. Here are a few things to help you get through your Friday before you go out to get drunk, high, or whatever the hell you do when you can’t skate.

The New York Skate Movie Trailer: This was new to me, and honestly, it got me more psyched to go out and skate than any skate video I’ve seen in recent memory. It makes a pretty interesting thesis, suggesting that the core of street skating’s development actually happened in New York, and not California, so I’ll definitely be on line to catch this when it (supposedly) comes out this Spring.

Chairman of the Board is a pretty interesting article from the D.C City Paper about Darren Harper, and how he came up in skateboarding. It makes the same mistakes that pretty much every writer outside of skateboarding does, but is worth your time either way.

48 Blocks has been posting a lot of good things recently: German Nieves Interview, Window Shopping at it’s finest, and Classic SF Footage.

Jersey Dave: Banned From Boston

Pryce Holmes: Tallest Skater in New York City

This guy is my new favorite musical artist of all-time. Dude has five albums out. Five. I got a lot of catching up to do.

I don’t need a magazine cover to tell me that Lil’ Wayne is homo (Actually, yes I do), but he is officially in the ranks of Lupe, Pharell, The Pack, and the other skateboard rappers because of this. “The Block Is Hot” era needs a comeback.

Three 6 Mafia Vs. Being John Malcovich. Thank you God, for placing me on the same earth as these great people.

New York City plans to ban iPods from being used on city streets. Yeah, good luck enforcing that.

And finally, what better way to cure the wintertime blues than with Jeezy the Snowman, he’s iced out, plus he got snow, man!

Don’t forget about the Harold Event tomorrow. I’ll see all of you when it gets warmer, and the snow is gone.

And yes, this is, and probably forever will be, the earliest update in Quarter Snacks history. 7AM. And I have an 8:30 class. Grindin’.
