Some angel uploaded the Stick Up Kids NY premiere clip from 2006. For those who may not know, Stickupkidsny.com was the home of Flipmode, which would later become Bronze in the early 2010s. The clip is way ahead of its time :)
Mick Robbins has a new mini video entitled “Girls Are Hot” (girls are hot) that is mostly filmed in New York. Features a new silent Jason Byoun part. He’s maybe the the first one to ever film a line with a backpack on his chest.
Avoiding the same questions for every interview with a skater is tough. Skateboard Story has a rad one with Mackenzie Eisenhour, one of the best interviewers in all of skate media. “The only way to adapt if you want to work in it for me is just to keep skating. That’s the only constant. The act itself doesn’t really change. If I stopped skating myself, I would really have a hard time pretending to care about any of it. I honestly have no idea how people who have quit skating still work in the industry.”
Free Skate Mag has another Lucas Puig Instagram remix, edited to that Young Thug song that everyone really tried to make happen #in #da #club at the start of the summer but already forgot about. Works great for the vid though.
The “Summer Trip to New York” edits are finally starting to roll in! As is the DS2 music supervision! Thought it was a drought! D.C’s Palace 5ive rolled up to New York for a bit and came back with a five-minute VX montage.
In case you haven’t already heard / seen: the NYPD installed a police tower in the middle of Tompkins. Be careful doing whippits behind the basketball court after you lose on a nollie flip in S.K.A.T.E.
Bronze just dropped a video for their now-available Huf collaboration, chopped up to the plethora of newscasts about footwear-related violence. It’s basically a real good mini Josh Wilson part, which contains a First Annual Regular Stance Heelflip of the Year Candidate. The second GS9 part has Tierney exploring even more griptape colors, and Dick Rizzo furthering the ongoing resuscitation of the Verizon Banks. Dude, why does everyone hate the VX so much these days? ;)
The other day, we were having an office discussion about how Last of the Mohicans is low-key one of the more influential New York videos of the past decade or so. Even though ~75% of the footage was from Florida etc, the New York bits rewired how visitors and recent ex-pats went about filming in the city. It was one of the first vids to entirely ignore skating below triple-digit Manhattan streets. Before Mohicans and those early Dobbin Block montages, few people gave a shit about trekking out to East New York or Morris Heights to skate some rugged brick bank spot you could get stabbed at. Nowadays, that’s some people’s entire M.O. That was one of the first videos to really prioritize sticking its nose in outer borough crust.
ANYWAY, Caddo was a big part of that whole era, and he dropped a wallride-heavy L.A. trip part for Politic yesterday. No music, just urethane screeching against walls. The Politic guys even went the distance of calling it a “casual” part — not like footage has ever done justice to how insane this dude’s skating is anyway :)

We were fortunate enough to be flown out to Sweden on the occasion of DJ Thando’s (of Alltimers shirt notoriety) European debut. When not handling entourage duties or tending to his rider, we were given brief moments to sleep, and a small block of downtime to also orchestrate the Swedish premiere of Bronze and Palace’s cocaine-addicted Paramount video.
Sweden may be the fourth best place on earth to live, but we were in a dark pocket of the Scandinavian nation that did not know the word “wifi.” Forced to improvise, we attempted to create a mobile hotspot with a 4G iPhone, and later a 3G iPhone — only to wait thirty minutes for Blondey’s part to load halfway, twice. Then, a dark artifact from the past emerged to the rescue: a BlackBerry.
Many Swedish and American skate celebrities huddled around the three-inch screen to watch the twenty-minute pro-chiz PSA, as it was the only device capable of loading the project in its entirety. The video concluded with a text message from AT&T informing the owner of the phone that they just accrued $50 in international data roaming overages over the course of twenty minutes. We are proud to have experienced Paramount at the highest cost:screen size skate premiere ever held.
