Spots: Uptown Manhattan — Upper East Side
Spot: Just a few blocks north of many standard Midtown east spots, are two of the better handrails in the area (and safer, insofar as your leg does not get caught between the rail and the wall.) They are both down the same set of seven stairs and connected to a wall, which makes the approach a bit more comfortable, but obviously cancels out boardslides and lipslides (the rail is far enough from the wall to enable noseslides and tailslides.) The frontside for regular / backside for goofy one is a tiny bit steeper than the backside for regular one, but neither one is anything too intimidating. The runway and the landing are both ample. The steps themselves are a good set-up if you’re looking to simply skate seven steps.
Otherwise, there’s a seven set with a not-so-great runway and a few other rails in front with a gigantic crack in front of all of them.
Bust — ♦♦♦ / Half-and-half: The spot is located on the side of the building, so you are out of security’s view, but they may eventually come to kick you out after spotting you on the surveillance cameras. It is still best to come here at night or on the weekends.
Location: 67th Street and Second Avenue. Take the 6 train to 68th Street–Hunter College, skate south for one block, make a left on 67th Street and skate east for two blocks.
