Exchange Place

Spots: New Jersey — Jersey City

Spot: Ledges made out of wood aren’t the most exciting things in the world. This pier may be a central exception, as the wood is of a good enough quality to make it feel like you’re grinding a real, stone ledge. The planks that make up the floor are also well-structured, and not at all rickety, so flatground, catching speed, etc. are never problems. There are two, long ledges without ends, which are the most frequently skated obstacles, in addition to a two-step stage with ledges running off the side. The handicap ramps leading up to the pier also have low, two-foot high rails running along the sides that could work for a quick crook bonk or a short noseslide fakie.

Bust — ♦♦♦ / Half-and-half: The pier is right next to the Path Station, so police usually patrol the surrounding areas. If they happen to go on the pier, they will issue you a summons, so it’s best to go at night to minimize your chances of being spotted. The problem is that once you see them on the pier, there is only one way out, so there’s really no chance to avoid them unless you want to jump in the Hudson River and swim to New York.

Location: Montgomery Street and the Hudson River in Downtown Jersey City. Take the A, C, E, 2 or 3 train to World Train Center–Chambers Street. Transfer onto a Newark or Hoboken bound PATH train, and take it to Exchange Place (the first stop / five minute ride from the city.) Walk out, and it’s on your immediate left.
