Spots: New Jersey — Jersey City
Spot: Surrounding this entire building is an assortment of white ledges. Few of them are waxed up well, and even fewer have ends, but this is a good place to go if you want to skate a ledge worry free, because you should not get kicked out after 4 P.M. or so. The ground is sandpaper-like sidewalk, so it is liable to wear down your tail fairly quick, but, that’s the price you pay.
The ledges range from two feet in height to foot high. The lower ledges give way to short, foot-and-a-half high step-up ledges as well. There is also a seven set here with ample runway and landing.
Bust — ♦♦ / Occasional: Come here after 4 P.M. on a weekday or anytime on the weekend and you should not get kicked out.
Location: Pavonia Avenue and Central Avenue in the Journal Square area of Jersey City. If you’re coming from Uptown or Queens, take the B, D, F, V, N, Q, R or W to 34th Street — Herald Square and transfer to a Journal Square bound PATH train, and take it to Journal Square, the last stop (fifteen minute ride from the city.) If you’re coming from Downtown or Brooklyn, take the A, C, E, 2, or 3 to World Trade Center and take a Newark bound PATH train to the Journal Square stop. When you exit the station, make a right, skate one block north to Pavonia Avenue. Make a right on Pavonia, and skate two blocks east to Central Avenue. The courthouse should be right in front of you.
