Hooters Rail

Spots: Midtown Manhattan — Theater District / Times Square Area

Danny Weiss:Oh yeah, that was the night I tried to ollie the Hooters double-set.
Aaron Szott:Wow, is that the night your girlfriend broke up with you?

Spot: The Hooters Rail is hardly a “have fun,” session-type of spot. It is more like a New York version of a southern California spot to build up your notoriety, because very few people have ever managed to pull a trick off on this thing.

The double-set is a four-flat-four, with a pretty good runway and a sidewalk landing. The rail runs alongside a wall, and is frontside for regular / backside for goofy, made out of recycled plastic with pretty sharp kinks. It is wide enough to the point where it almost acts like a hubba more than a ledge. Just be mindful of where you get on, because Scott Schwartz famously got bodied on this thing when the front truck was on the flat portion of the rail, and the back one locked into the first slant.

On the eastern side of the building, there are several sets of sixes and sevens, with a diesel double-rail that is steep, but low enough to do tricks over if you have the pop for it. Alongside the Seventh Avenue side of the building, leading into an underground parking garage, there are several banks with curbs at the bottom of them that can be ollied onto and wallrid. They go downhill, so you pick up speed quickly.

Bust — ♦♦♦ / Half-and-half: You need to come here at night, preferably after 11 P.M., or whenever Hooters closes.

Location: 56th Street between Broadway and Seventh Avenue. Take the N, R, Q or W to 57th Street. Skate south for one block on Broadway, and make a right on 56th Street. The spot is in the middle of the block.
