Spots: Midtown Manhattan — Gramercy, Kips Bay & Murray Hill

Spot: Norman Thomas is the beginning of a fairly long strip of Park Avenue spots reaching up to around 57th Street, where the street becomes predominately residential. Here you will find a very long ledge that extends about twenty feet over several elongated steps. It is about a foot-and-a-half in height at the very start of the ledge and drops off to be nearly five feet high at the end. It is made out of very smooth marble and is free of any cracks that may get in your way. It’s only frontside for regular/backside for goofy. Next to it, there is a step-up ledge that is also around a foot and a half in height with a three-and-a-half foot high drop-off at the end. It’s around four feet in length, with a under fifteen-foot long runway off the ledge below it.
There are also several stair sets on the 34th Street side of the building, namely a six and a seven, in addition to several beat-up ledges that aren’t really worth waxing.
Bust — ♦♦♦ / Half-and-half: Unless you skate the steps directly in front of the building, you should not get kicked out. The steps are in front of a security window, but it is easily avoidable if you strategize your runway.
Location: 33rd Street and Park Avenue in Kips Bay. Take the 6 train to 33rd Street and skate one block east on 33rd to Park Avenue.
