NY Waterway Terminal

Spots: Midtown Manhattan — Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen & Midtown West

Spots: The Ferry Terminal is not the most frequently skated spot, but is a fairly unique set-up, so it is worth noting, because it is not every day you come across a spot like this one. In front of the entrance to the terminal is a mildly slanted concrete ledge, that is probably fifteen feet long, and at a quarter-of-a-circle-like curve. It is frontside for regular / backside for goofy. The top is thin, so be careful you don’t slip out and crash to the concrete from the other side.

Bust — ♦♦♦ / Half-and-half: Security will spot you immediately during the day, so it is best to come here at night. It is at a commuter center, so use your better judgement and make the trip out here later at night, on Saturday or Sunday, and perhaps even holidays.

Location: The Westside Highway / 12th Avenue and 38th Street, at the NY Waterway Ferry Terminal (there are no cross streets back here, so 38th Street is an estimate.) Take the A, C or E train to 34th Street–Penn Station. Skate west on 34th Street until you hit the Westside Highway. Make a right, and skate up the parallel bike path for approximately four blocks until you hit the ferry terminal on your left side.
