Spots: Downtown Manhattan — Tribeca & West Village

Spot: In 2008, someone did good for the community and provided us with a solid, fifteen-foot portion of the spot by sawing off a section of the metal fence enclosing the brick structure after it had been surrounded by a blockade since the mid-90s. The banks themselves are fairly steep, but still at an angle that enables flip tricks. The skateable part of it is only about three-feet high to the lip. If you want to get fancy, it is also possible to skate the parallel remaining metal rail into the bank.
Bust — ♦♦♦ / Half-and-half: Security guards from the hospital will occasionally come outside and tell you that you cannot skate there. It is completely hit or miss, but more often than not, you should be able to get your time’s worth here.
Location: 12th Street and Seventh Avenue in the West Village. Take the 1, 2 or 3 train to 14th Street. Skate south on Seventh Avenue for two blocks and the spot is on the western corner.
