Spots: Downtown Manhattan — Financial District
Spot: The city re-built this plaza in 2011, and blessed it with one of the most well set-up gaps in lower Manhattan. The gap is off a foot-and-a-half high platform, over seven feet of sidewalk, into Maiden Lane. The traffic is fairly mellow, though you’ll still need a lookout. The runway is mildly downhill, and on absolutely perfect flatground. People have otherwise been known to use the platform as a manual pad as well.
Bust — ♦♦♦♦ / Very Likely: The Federal Reserve owns the park (or at least that’s what security claims), and they will often cruise by and tell you to leave. Your chances depend on luck, and can last anywhere from five minutes to a half-hour. Nighttime is ideal, although not a guarantee.
Location: William Street and Maiden Lane, literally across from the eastern wall of the Federal Reserve Bank in the Financial District. Take the 2 or 3 to Fulton Street, skate west one block on Fulton, make a left on William Street and skate south for four blocks. The spot is past the C.I.A. Ledge at the bottom of the hill.
