Spots: Downtown Manhattan — Financial District
Spot: Nestled in the back streets of the Financial District, you will find these two well-waxed curved granite ledges, which ascend from about three inches in height to about a foot-and-a-half. There’s one for each stance on both sides of an unskateable stair set (due to a cobblestone runway) that lies in the center of the plaza. There’s a small, four-foot-high drop going over the curved ledge itself with a half-foot high granite manual pad to the side of it. It is about three feet wide, and can only be approached when rolling parallel to it. In back, there are a couple benches that can only be used as manual pads provided that their edges are two jagged to slide or grind.
Stop by Ulysses on Stone Street after the session if you are into cheeseburgers and pints.
Bust — ♦♦♦♦ / Very Likely: Usually, it takes about twenty-minutes for the security guard to come out, but there are occasions when security will be posted up outside. Do not come here during working hours unless you constantly want to dodge office workers.
Location: Coenties Slip and Pearl Street. Take the R or W to Whitehall Street, and skate north on Water Street for three blocks, make a left on Coenties Slip and the spot is in the middle of the block on Pearl Street.
