Spots: Downtown Manhattan — City Hall Area
Spot: It is impossible to not pass the Family Court building at least at one point, considering it is on one of the main routes to downtown Manhattan from SoHo, Supreme, Chinatown, etc. The building’s standout obstacle is a two-and-a-half foot high marble-topped block, most recognizable from Jason Dill’s Mind Field ender trick. It is about six feet long on all sides, and good for both manuals and slides, if you can handle the height. If your feet are quick enough, you can do a trick down the four stair and proceed to do something on it. There are also sets of two, three and, four that could be skated as a two-up, four-down at the appropriate angle. The spot is conveniently located right next to the building you need to venture out to at eight in the morning if you ever happen to get a ticket for skateboarding in Manhattan, so be sure to stop by the spot after you pay your $10 fine and waste your morning.
Bust — ♦♦ / Occasional: Come here at night or on the weekends and you should not have any problems.
Location: Lafayette and Franklin Streets. Take the N, R, 4, 5 or 6 to Canal Street, skate east one block, make a right, and skate south on Lafayette for three blocks until you hit Franklin Street. The spot is across from a rundown park / parking lot that separates the Criminal Court and the Family Court.
